>Be homeless schizo w/ PTSD
>Go to McDonald's
>It says 11$ an hour on the door
>Take application (amazing, this one still had paper applications)
>Fill out application for any position
>No work history, so write down experiences that were chaotic or high stress
>Somehow get the interview despite how much I couldn't fill out (nobody they could call to ask about my experiences)
>Absolutely bomb interview, manage to come off as charismatic and a bit of a team leader
>First day is literally next day
>Wake up on time groggy, get a shower in and drink a coffee (homeless shelter), feeling nervous on walk there
>Get in and stand there in the back
>Forgot to clock in
>They can't find my name on the roster to check me in
>Stand there for even longer, starting to shake from the nerves
>Young girl, probably 15 walks up and says she's going to be my trainer
>I follow her to the freezer
>She points at things but my ears are ringing from the constant beeping
>Nod my head while looking around
>Brings me to the drive through window, points at buttons and tells me to try it out
>Suddenly hear blood curdling screaming, assume it's my hallucinations, trying to listen but start stuttering at the window
>Pretty much 2 minutes after getting to the window, I'm whisked off to the front register to press buttons
>The guy who flips burgers starts calling me Tinkerbell from hell
>Physically see my mother there bleeding out of the wrists wrapped in a towel
>Trying to appear normal, shaking really bad and can't hear anything anyone's saying over the beeping
>Finally they say something about a break in 10 minutes
>Put me on fry duty now
>Somehow fucking up packing the fries into the container that they tell me to go on break
>Finally sit down but the beeping is so fucking loud
>See no smoking sign, look around for cameras, start vaping
>Sit there for like an hour, nobody seems to notice, other than the guy complaining about Tinkerbell from hell

>Manager walks in, asks what's going on
>All I can say is "I can't do this"
>She says something along the lines of "yes you can! Don't give up!"
>After a few minutes more of smoking, tell her I'm going home... Just for the day...
>Get up and walk to the homeless shelter
>Start crying right at the front desk
>Go straight to a bed and proceed to sleep for 16 hours or whenever the sun next came up
>Something like 10 missed messages from McDonald's
>Only reply with "I'm quitting"

The entire span of time I was in that McDonald's working was 3 hours, I made a total of 22$, they paid me 9$ per hour. I never got around to cashing the check because I heard my aunt was also going to be homeless and chose to live in her tent on the street to make sure she wasn't going to get hurt. It was easier to make it through 3 months in the Arizona desert than it was 3 hours at mcdonalds

I see why I was never able to get a basic job when I was young, I simply was not schizophrenic enough. Thanks for helping me come to this realization.

They barely hire anyone these days. There's no registers, everything is done via the big touch display and the cooks who work in the back are usually veterans who have been there for years.
And when positions do open up there's like 2000 applications.
