There's no issue with mosquitos unless you live in a tropical shit hole. If you get bitten by them they probably sense there's something wrong with you. If you're a normal healthy human being they don't bother you.

Iceland used to be the best country in the world before the mosquitoes and immigration. Not anymore sadly. Mass immigration destroys everything. A friend of mine always likes to say: "the people make the country and you change the country if you change the people". Do you agree with him?

Yes, they do.
But Iceland was quite isolated, you know. It's just an island furthermuch in the ocean. I've also heard that New Zealand didn't have mosquito. Don't know if it has changed nowadays.
>>
>>216079561
It just means that they have water stagnation now
>>
>>216079851
Most of the northern US and Canada doesn't have earthworms because just ~15,000 years ago it was covered in glaciers that killed them all and they haven't worked their way back up yet. I assume the same shit happened to the mosquitos in Iceland.

I wonder why this didn't happen before?

If Iceland is warm enough for mosquitoes to survive in then surely some would have been brought in via an aeroplane cabin from india or the carribean or whatever in the 70s or 80s since then?
>>
>>216081512
>in the 70s or 80s
it was colder back then, it might be a small difference to us but mosquitos have trouble flying under 15 °C

they've been here at least since march, but they are also fucking MASSIVE

From what I've seen on the news these ones should be blood sucking. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/10/21/climate/iceland-mosquito-discovery

mosquitoes have been in iceland for a long time. they come in planes and boats, but it's the first time they've been able to breed successfully. usually the weather in iceland is too unpredictable and they can't survive

I know a bunch of people who have suddenly become allergic to cows milk in my country in the last few years. Out of nowhere. We're talking full blooded northern Europeans who've been drinking cows milk their whole life. Specifically they became allergic to beta casein, not to lactose.
>>
>>216081932
We call those stankelbein (stinky legs ???)
>>
>>216082025
is it because all of the lakes? we only have a similar amount near fishponds.
>>
>>216082085
I assume. It's rainy, might be swampy and a bit warm in summer. So just like in tundra. And tundra has more mosquito in season than tropical shitholes.
>>
>>216080033
I visited the neighbouring Ireland in the mid 90's and they were already a thing there.
>>

We call it "long-legged" (дoлгoнoжкa dolgonozhka) or karamora (don't know what that supposed to mean, maybe it's just changed common word for mosquito which is "komar")
>>

>Parasite meets Viking
Are they recreating Russians?
>>
>>216081003
They're chilling in their AC enabled pods.
If only we could make/force them to enjoy a couple of weeks unprotected in a South American jungle or African shithole....
Last I heard, is that the Chagas disease has become endemic in the southern US states, that's bogus, and probably most of their inhabitants are unaware of this. They no longer can say "Not my problem"

I don't think we have a common term for them, just komar, same thing we use for regular mosquitos
>>
It’s theoretically possible to genetically modify mosquitoes in order to make them pass on a gene to their offspring to make them infertile, and by so doing exterminate the entire mosquitoe species. The fact that this hasn’t been done is a sign of how cucked and passive we are as a species
>>
>>216083404
They freeze in the winter, Iceland does not have a mosquito problem.
>>
This is the first year I've noticed mosquitos this late into the year in my area.

I live in DC and by October they're all dead, but this year I am getting swarmed as recently as yesterday.

their eggs survive freezing it has never been this over for iceland
>>
"The reason is probably to be found in Icelandic conditions. In Greenland and Northern Scandinavia, the pupa hibernates beneath ice during the winter, and hatches as a fly as soon as the ice melts. This happens in spring, as polar winters are continuous. Icelandic winters are variable. There can be a sudden rise in temperature in the middle of winter, with a thaw, then the temperature will drop again.
Under these conditions the pupa would hatch. The mosquito would then need to find prey from which to suck blood, then it would need several days for the eggs to mature, to meet a mate and lay the eggs in a pond or marsh. Changes in climate in Iceland are so rapid that the mosquito does not have sufficient time to complete its lifecycle. Under these conditions the pupa would not be mature when temperatures dropped again and ice formed on the ponds."
https://www.why.is/svar.php?id=5488

I'm not worried
>>
>>216083684
We will see. There is some modern species of mosquito that can lay eggs without mating and drinking blood.
>>
>>216083538
worms are actually invasive here and damage native forests, but are common near cities and suburbs due to people adding them for gardens. Luckily they move very slowly so forests are mostly fine if no one spreads worms around
I'm not sure about the case in the south, maybe they are native there
>>
>>216083538
That's not true? I remember hearing in some video that modern sequoia can't grow to recordbreaking sizes anymore because settlers imported earthworms to the west and that changed the soil
