It's about 15 years when I last visited, but yes it was noticeable. But at least east Berlin had cheaper accommodations

there are visibly less non-European immigrants in east Berlin. Also architecture is a bit different though not as much as one might expect between a capitalist and socialist state - west Berlin is full of commieblocks too (just slightly different looking)

Southern Italy is more different from North Italy than East Germany from West Germany. Scientists can't figure out why. They keep crunching the numbers but no (allowed) explanation can explain it. Truly a mystery.

you don't necessarily see that from above but from the street level you can see in west Berlin they have more commieblocks with slanted roofs for example
