Turkish is like a ooga booga tribal language compared to English. English vocabulary is so much richer. Turkish only has a single word for 10 slightly different words in English. It's simply impossible to convey the small nuance differences correctly while translating a text from English to Turkish. No she/he difference. It's impossible to understand the gender unless it's statedI'm assuming other western european languages also mog Turkish hard. I don't know about eastern languages though

It was the opposite for me. English is my third language, I learned two romance languages before it, and it baffles me how poorly designed English is.There are so many nuances that romance languages can convey that take many more words to specifically point out in English. There's also the fact that English is a slowly spoken language compared to Spanish due to how poorly designed it is. Picture related.Even university-educated people struggle to pronounce words and constantly apologize for not knowing how to pronounce words, it's so fucking embarrassing to see, and it's literally the only language in which it happens. They also have to memorize the spelling of tens of thousands of words because their writing system is a mess, whereas in Asspanish 99% of the time you know exactly how to write something you hear, or how to pronounce something you read.I'm honestly baffled that the people who rule the world decided this was going to be the world's international language. I genuinely believe using this language, especially if it's your only one, severely restricts your ability to think clearly and makes you stupider over time.
>I'm honestly baffled that the people who rule the world decided this was going to be the world's international language. I mean you and the Frogs dropped the ball on that one, you had the head start and fucked it up. You let the Anglo win so here we are
>>216234616Depends. It could change in the coming decades. Spanish has more native Speakers than English and it is quickly growing in its influence.English is currently spoken more because of people who have it as a second language, due to the influence of the United States and the globalization it brought over with its technology.Spanish-speakers are a quickly growing group in the US, and it'll be soon the language of all the Americas. The damage is irreversible. There are plenty of parts in the US where more stuff is in Spanish every day. Advertising, all kinds of services, even businesses are starting to value bilingual employees over monolingual Anglos.Deportations in the tens of millions to undo the damage done by the previous admin are a pipe dream and even if they were attempted, the next admin will just open the floodgates again.I'm not gloating about it, I'm just recognizing reality. I feel sorry for White Americans. But Spanish has a good shot at making a comeback in influence in the coming decades due to these facts.Americans a decade ago used to scoff and laugh at the idea of even learning a bit of Spanish. They used to say stuff like>Why would I learn Spanish? my maid/gardener speaks enough English HAHAHAHA ;^)They're not laughing anymore.
Yeah true People shit on it for being mutt language but I think that's reason why English is so beautiful
>>216234238Opposite, I see literal translations of phrases in other languages and they're so primitive in their mode of expression of abstract even compared to cumbersome Middle English modes of speaking. It became my schizo theory that the reason other places were slower to develop is their languages aren't conducive complex thought and forward planning. Including languages like Japanese. Always too vague and vibe based.
>>216234496>Designed>Decided it was going to beLol
>>216234496>Hard for foreigners to pronounceThat's a feature not a bug. We don't all speak conlangs. Some of us speak organic natural languages.
>>216234925I wouldn't call it beautiful. All western european languages sound better except for dutch.
>>216234925The final Englishpill is that English came to exist because Saxons and Angles were forced to be bilingual or trilingual and the educated ones sometimes learned Latin too.
>>216234496>There's also the fact that English is a slowly spoken language compared to Spanish due to how poorly designed it isNo, YOU speak FAST because Spanish is an inefficient language. A book translated from English to Spanish is 20-30% longer.
>>216235048And since everyone was speaking so many languages all the useful little tools from all of them transferred over, plus the most massive vocab of all time, and a lot of unnecessary things like bridges being implied to have vaginas got erased.
>>216234958This is hard to explain to someone who only speaks one language, but literal translations are often cumbersome if nuance needs to be preserved. It also works the other way around
>>216235107I know lile 1.25 languages and I agree, but I also think spanish anon doesn't know how to be as nuanced or subtle in english as he does spanish, and that this translation problem goes both ways.
>>216234238>English vocabulary is so much richer. Not really>No she/he difference. This is a good thing because not only is it unnecessary but you also don't get your entire language raped by Xer/Xir/Zom/Zaku bullshit. Turkish blows English and most other *ndoe*ropean languages right out.
>>216234958>>216235056>A book translated from English to Spanish is 20-30% longer. All translations are always inefficient, regardless of the two languages involved. It doesn't have anything to do with the other language being less efficient. You always have to use extra words to convey concepts and nuances that the language translated to doesn't have. You would know this if you weren't a monolingual pleb.
>>216235160Based.
English is so convoluted and has so many words that you can kind of use it as a second language. You can hide messages using English simply by using complex or unclear vocabulary. English poems are notorious for this. Try to accurately translate Dylan Thomas, Gerard Manley Hopkins,, Ogden Nash, or even John Milton. It can barely be done.
>>216234992Spanish was codified and standardized very early in its history, picture related is the first king that started it in the 13th century. The RAE (Spanish Royal Academy) has been polishing it and making it more coherent and practical for literal centuries.Just recently the RAE released the 300-year edition of their dictionary which is almost 10,000 pages. It is not a 100% organic language.>>216235004>>Hard for foreigners to pronounce>That's a feature not a bug.Well, it must not be a very effective feature, because you have a billion 75IQ Indian Saaaaars speaking your language.
>>216234238the fact that you believe this means you are a literal subhuman retard. no wonder with that image though.
>>216234238When people in this country try to write about more or less complex topics in their native language, the resulting output is unnatural gibberish, something clearly artificial. This is due both to the low IQ of native speakers and to the language itself.Only simple and common things can be discussed in this language.
>>216234238He/she difference is retarded desu. Why is table a guy but chair a girl?
>>216234238More or less.On paper, portuguese has as much flexibility to express your thoughts as english, but in practice, the vocabulary of the average brazilian is considerably smaller than the vocabulary of the average anglophone. We brazilians only use a small fraction of our vocabulary, and we use it really badly at that. Also, speaking proper portuguese is shunned away in Brazil, people will think of you as arrogant or conceited. This has gotten so bad that nowadays I find it way easier to think in english, not because english is easier than portuguese, but mainly because my english vocabulary is bigger. I still think the portuguese phonology and grammar are better than english's, but the language is in a very deplorable state because brazilians themselves don't care enough about it (or don't have the required IQ) to speak it properly and eloquently.
>>216234238Quite the opposite
>>216234238can you fucking kill yourself already you stupid kurdjeet
>>216234238Learning Thai made me realize how pussified English and Western European languages in general are. It makes sense given the state of things now but back then I was shocked. Then I started learning Khmer and it was an even bigger difference. I hate to be that guy but Western languages through media have really been compromised. They create passive men, shitty women, and serve foreign/corporate interests.
>>216237686What are some differences you noticed?
>>216237686Alright albanian, explain what you mean by that.
>>216234238Yes. It is very hard to talk about some topics because the language simply doesn't have the vocabulary.>No she/he differenceThis is a good thing DOE
>>216238012It's really too much for a single post, but I think it's in part due to the simplicity of those languages. With European languages you can logic and reason your way into replacing the local population with rapists and other undesirables. Take Germany for example, the Green Party used rhetoric to justify shutting down all their nuclear power, so that they had to be dependent on Russian gas. And Russia is their mortal enemy! If you tried a similar stunt in Thai or Khmer they would just laugh and say no thanks. Their language is too straightforward to weasel your way into corrupting them. You also can't play the international shame card on these people because their worldview doesn't extend past their borders. Most Thais don't even know there's a huge civil war going on in Myanmar, their next door neighbor, despite having millions of Burmese living in Thailand. They also don't know who Hitler was. And im not talking about country bumpkins either, I really only associated with college educated people.Another interesting thing of note, politeness is built into the language and it's nothing like we know of in the West. It would be like calling people today thou and m'lord but even that doesn't do the topic justice. There's at least 40 distinct pronouns with varying levels of respect and most words in general have a polite, kind of polite, and rude form. You might say that sounds cucked, but really it creates a strong respect that holds societies together. In the West it's basically been normalized to tear down and make fun of everything good, not in Asia.
>>216238753Actually when I wrote rude form, I really should've written vulgar form. Although vulgar carries a disgusting or dirty connotation which isn't the case here. An older person speaking to a younger person will often use the vulgar form of words, but it's not in any way derogatory or mean spirited. This is just the form you use when you're older speaking to someone younger, that's it. Likewise a younger person speaking to someone older will use certain vocab and modifiers that are more appropriate to their age gap. To go against these customs isn't even that rude though, they would just think you're some kind of retard. If you really wanted to cause offense you would use a special "offensive register", another set of pronouns and vocab that imply you want to be offensive. "Fighting words" so to say. Hope my rambling has helped a bit.
>>216235345Yeah, you're right, they all sound super fluent.
>>216234313This.English looks like ooga booga to us.
>>216238753>>216239095You sound like a caveman trying to justify their caveman grunts as a good form of communication. Sorry, I can't sympathize with you.
>>216234238Speaking English feels like self inflicted autism, it lends itself well to discussing strategy in video games or making quick callouts in fast paced video games. It also is good for engineering/programming disciplines, but it is utterly deficient for describing anything to do with human nature or politics in any reasonable amount of time.
>>216239208Kek fair enough
>>216239204Languages without articles are like that for us.
>>216234238French. It made me realize that our language is a bastardized romanceboo creole. It’s probably easier for a native English speaker to learn a Romance language like Spanish or French than it is to learn German
>>216234238Yes, gender doesn't exist in finnish. There is no way to specifically say he or she.
>>216238753The point is to use NEITHER nuclear nor gas, but capitalism forces a choice.
>>216234238Not really, both Moroccan darija and Berber are fairly expressive. However, since neither is properly institutionalized and marginalized due to pan arabism, they don't really possess specialized technical jargon and STEM-related terminology or a lot media etc.
>>216235106It's EL puente. It's a he.
