According to Maoism, the collapse of the USSR was inevitable when the revisionist faction headed by Khrushchev took over following Stalin's death after a massive power struggle in the CPSU.
So the USA with its puppet Boris Yeltsin hastened its demise but didn't necessarily cause it.
