How is American football viewed in your country? How would your parents have reacted if as a kid you asked them to play it?
>>216241300>Amerigolems pay hundreds of dollars to watch 3 hours of commercials
>>216241771what's up with you people rioting and sometimes even murdering people over a children's game?
>>216241300it's a shit sport, they only play for 5 seconds until the referee blows the whistle
>>216241300I'd probably like it more if it wasn't so disgustingly commercialized. Not saying eurocentric sports are better in that regard but I could do without the constant ad breaks.
>>216241300it seems to me that a lot of the injuries in the NFL wouldn't exist with better grass, tackling rules
>>216242202the old tackling caused fewer injuries, when you could just launch yourself into a guy and knock the wind out of him so his body would fall naturally. now they have to try and carry them to the ground so they don't get hurt badly which is highly ironic.
>>216242242yeah they tackle/fall on their legs
>>216241300>How is American football viewed in your country?Barely know anything about it other than some buzzwords (touchdown, linebacker etc.) Only know a couple of players (Tom Brady and Joe Montana)>How would your parents have reacted if as a kid you asked them to play it?In India? Confused. If we were in an alternate universe where American football is popular here for some reason? Maybe a bit concerned about getting myself hur, but overall glad that I'm showing interest in some kind of sport.
>>216241300It is not viewed, but I have seen some foreigners playing it in the park
>>216241300It has a small autistic fanbase of people who stay up all night watching it, but most people don't know much about it other than there's lots of stopping and starting, and adverts.
>>216241849bodied that macaco
>>216241771I have to record the games and watch them back later so I can skip the ads. The ads weren't anywhere near as bad when I was a kid but they're completely out of control now. College football in particular used to have a lot less ads but now it's just the same as the NFL if either of the teams has at least 3 fans.
>>216242564This is going to sound weird but Asians including Indians are everywhere in the sports. It's so normal we don't even think about it The number 1 wide receiver taken this year in the draft was asian. He's basically a malay. Your body types fit it well
>>216242929Lol I'm 5'8" and 127 pounds. I'd get crushed.
He is t Mac. Asians with our food and NFL type training get huge. He's 6'5 220 and no fat. Breaking it down he's basically Malaysian mixed with a little samoan
>>216243002Tb h I thought he was black. But yeah nutrition probably has something to do with it.I don't care about NFL or NBA or MLB much, but I am unironically into hockey lol. Pulled an all nighter the other day to watch Avs vs Bruins and Wings vs Blues
>>216242970Youd be bulked up within 4 years to probablub180-190. Either a kicker, punter, rb, or safety. There are some positions where shorter guys are better. It's not like other sports. Height can be a disadvantage at positions and advantage at others. NFL players generally can't be above 6'6 or they get destroyed Running backs real height is usually 5'8-6 in the NFL. College it's 5'4-6
>>216243085It's the amount they are in the sun lol This is ngata. Pretty much every team has 1 to 3 asian starters, we don't even think about it.
>>216243097>5'4-6Really?
people just think it's all adverts ("commercials") and 10 seconds of play time
>>216243347Yeah. The NFL has some 5'4--5'8 guys they don't usually go by that listing. The greatest running backs of all time are almost all 5'6 to 5'9Height is a disadvantage at the position
>>216243347He's exaggerating but it can happen. You can be pretty short and still play running back. You could also play nickel corner or slot receiver. Specialist positions like punter, kicker, or long snapper also usually don't require any particular height as long as you can do the job well.In high school you could probably play most positions at 5'8" besides offensive or defensive lineman.
>>216243726>>216243707Interesting.How popular is college football really? More popular than NFL?
>How is American football viewed in your country? It's not.
>>216243752College football is very popular but I would still say the NFL is more popular. People like college football because the team is probably much closer to you and made up mostly of people from the area. Professional football teams have players from all over the country and you might not have a team within hundreds of miles, depending on where you live. It's also weird to cheer for a team from a college you don't have any ties to, so if you didn't go to college and no one in your family did either you probably wouldn't have a college team you care about.
>>216243184>Pretty much every team has 1 to 3 asian startersthey're almost exclusively pacific islanders though right
>>216243752Less popular because the skill level is lower but more players and players now get paid We understand it's a complex ass violent sport so we don't try to press it overseas but everyone is welcome. With Asians it's so common it's another day. No yao ming or ohtani level crap. The sport has long had Asians it's just there. Our athletes try to train with the NFL guys because it's that advanced.Like in an NFL program they'd tack on 50 lbs of muscle on you with no drugs in under 2 years. Everything is dialed in from sleep to diet to water. Lebron James copies Lts recovery regiment for instance. The military dumps tens of millions in every year in ads and to get what they are doing to them train troops with it. Rangers train like string safeties for instance
>>216243858Cool. Though is football's popularity a recent thing? I heard that before the turn of the millenium, baseball was more popular overall. Now it is less watched than the NHL
>>216243895Kind of. Malays, info, phillipino, samoan, Tongan, Korean, some Japanese It's usually families who immigrated to American territories
>>216243997Thx man, sounds intense.
>>216244050All good. It's a weird sport but it's Americas sport. It's basically chess meets UFC meets track meets dance. .footwork is huge so you'll see 6'5 330 men who can dance well
>>216244013I'm not sure that baseball was more popular that recently, but far enough back it was certainly more popular. I don't think football has been actually obscure any time in living memory.
>>216244381What about hockey? I am a casual NHL fan
>>216242202There's really not any evidence that modern artificial turf is a greater injury risk than natural grass, NFL has run studies on it.
>>216241300>How is American football viewed in your country?it's probably considered a weird sport for any non-anglo/rugby country>How would your parents have reacted if as a kid you asked them to play it?they would find it too dangerous to practice and also a bit gay because of all the rubbing between the players
>>216242929>>216243184>we don't even think about itwhy did you say that twice? odd.
>>216244427>we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing
>>216244427lmao come on anon
>>216244414Hockey only really exists in the north here. There are teams in other areas, but most people don't even know they have a local hockey team, if they even do.
>>216245565Hmm I figured hockey would be more popular in colder states (Michigan, Alaska, Montana etc.)
There is an American football club in my town since the last year. They are larping as Dallas Cowboys
