I just learned about the american bootcamps for teens. What the fuck is wrong with them, no wonder they're all mentally ill
Military school was a real fear for young boys in the early 2000s. I feel like it was mentioned in a lot of media. Seemed like it was a place where all the misbehavers ended up.
>>216244189And they still misbehave today right?Crazy that the same people that made full metal jacket is sending their sons (and even daughters) in this shit
Idk if those are still a thing. Back in the 90s, they were all out in Idaho, Colorado, Utah, etc. because those libertarian-minded states had few formal, enforceable laws/regulations about child welfare and education. Pretty sure most of those places have been shut down.>>216244189Military school is completely different. But yes, it was a real threat. I remember I got a C- in 9th grade geometry honors for the second quarter, and my mom legitimately wanted to send me to military school because I was already being a bastard at home and now I wasn't hitting her expectations in school.
>>216244446Our country loves punishment. Americans might seem warm and friendly, but we have very cold souls.
>>216244189>>216244518was literally gimmick multiple shows and movies>francis in military school in malcom in the middle>wanting to send aj to one in sopranos. vitos son go's later
>>216244632Also the live action Cat in the Hat, the moms boyfriend wants to send the son to military school
>>216244570>Our country loves punishment. Our society sets a high bar and there's no community support systems beyond your immediate family.
>>216244632AJ was almost sent to military school. Vito's son was sent to a teen boot camp. These are two very different things.
>>216244632>>216244446Wait until you hear about our Christian conversion camps. Burgers just love to send their children to some desolate camp hundreds of kilometers from them. Thankfully, my parents loved me and didn’t want to see me abused or diddled but many kids weren’t so lucky >>216244663Someone once said that America is a country with very high highs and very low lows. I think that’s a solid way of explaining life here
>>216245875I think it's pretty well-known that American quality of life is subject to work ethic and luck whereas neither matter nearly as much for Europeans.
