It's funny that Simon Bolivar wanted to transform South America into a single country, and so he considered an alliance with Argentina and all the other South American countries to invade Brazil, because we were ruled by en european royal family o algo

Why didn’t Bolivar try to unify the Caribbean and Central America instead of the south? Seems like a much smarter move considering the geography.

I vaguely recall reading something about his opinions on the people of Gran Colombia, he basically hated governing them.

VGH the good old days when south americans still had a fighting spirit. Nowadays our borders are probably the most boring and dull in world, nothing ever happens anymore. I wanna see young men dying in pointless wars.

Here are Bolivar's own conclusions in a letter near the end of his life (dated 1830):
>You know well that I have held command for twenty years, and from them I have reaped but few certain results.
>1°. [South] America is ungovernable for us.
>2°. He who serves a revolution ploughs the sea.
>3°. The only thing that may be done in America is to depart from it.
>4°. This country shall infallibly fall into the hands of an unbridled multitude, thereafter to pass beneath the sway of petty tyrants, scarcely perceptible, of every hue and race.
>5°. Consumed by every crime and extinguished by ferocity, we shall not even deem ourselves worthy of conquest by the Europeans.
>6°. Were it possible that any portion of the globe should return unto its primitive chaos, that would be the final stage of [South] America.

There is something demonic about the Western hemisphere. It's like a place where the worst excesses of animalistic human brutality are expressed daily and nobody cares. It's sad because it has the best nature in the world. Wonders like the mountain range spanning two continents from Alaska to Chile, or the world's biggest and most powerful river feeding its densest rainforests. So much misery in such a beautiful place.

dude, you were putting each other in gas chambers 80 years ago, and genociding each other in the balkans 30 years ago, wtf you are talking about?

Bolivar, like San Martín, Belgrano or Miranda were wrong about the enlightening. It couldn't work on South America, like it couldn't work on Spain, too many traditions in class and culture, toi catholic, too subjugated by the caudillo system and links of clientelism, pic related Juan Manuel de Rosas was right, the only way to unite the region was through strong men, catholicism, tradition and federalism. There was no need to reinvent the wheel, the things that kept the viceroyalties together worked just fine

And they're killing each other in eastern europe right now. Euros sure do love to throw stones while living in glass houses.

>I want to unite South America!!!
>Not that way!!!
Bolivar and San Martin were useful idiots who indebted their countries for power and never cared about anything but themselves. Enjoy.
>>
>>216270873
people are being killed in Brazil as we speak. Is the government doing anything about it?
>>216271538
>And they're killing each other in eastern europe right now.
We aren't killing each other. It's Ukrainians and Russians who are killing each other.

I am not criticizing anyone, just sharing a thought. I am not saying Bulgaria is perfect.
>oh no all the gypsies and turks left for Germany
Yeah, thanks to that we have one of the cheapest real estate markets in the EU. It's a buyer's paradise but zoomers would rather sit in London or Amsterdam and complain. Picrel.

if we go with
>ehm akshually
then we have to reduce more the map because they never controlled that much of the amazon, it was full of uncontated tribes
essequibo was on paper the border so the map is right
anglos got it because the closest spanish city was tucupita while georgetown was right next to the river, alowing them to populate the area, venezuela only cared when anglos started to claim the whole cuyuni bassin when they found gold
