Why do Japanese people speak so fastI learned two languages by watching cartoons in them without any subtitles, they're usually oriented towards kids so the VAs speak slowly and clearly which gets you into immersion quickly, I tried watching the same cartoons in Japanese and they speak so fast I can barely tell the words apartI thought it might be because they end up with more/longer words after translation that they have to fit into the same runtime, but watching original Japanese anime for kids and it's the exact same, the VAs speak at the same speed as in adult programming
