Most people in america and australia are scots-irish
>>
anglo-celtic as we have come to say in aus and nz makes sense, broad british isles descended
>>
>>216283584
Americans got a lot more actual English people than Canada, Australia, or NZ did in the early stages thoughbeit, it only started to go downhill when the infinity Irish and Germans arrived in the mid 19th century.
>>
>>216283584
I'm Irish o algo though
>>
New England is quite Anglo-Saxon outside the big cities. Dixie is the one region that is very Scots-Irish. Utah is the most English state in the US.
>>
I'm Anglo, and I have the hairline to prove it.
>>

You mean you don't have the hairline

I like that the guy who coined the term WASP had the most WASP name ever, E. Digby Baltzell, and looked more like a WASP than anyone with maybe the exception of Robert Redford.

Maybe you, Paddy, but my greats granddad came on the second fleet in 1789 and most of the rest came from England later. There's some Irish on my mother's side but it would only be 1/8th or 1/16th for me.
>>
>>216286691
crisp, i have first, second and third fleet in a branch of the family too
>>
>>216286717

shakies innit?n nobody that wasnt forced moved to australia since after ww2. that you come from a line of persons that couldnt keep that their hands to themself isnt anything to brag about
>>

>nobody that wasnt forced moved to australia since after ww2
that's retarded, simply not true, younger born sons of the landed classes, regular people wanting more opportunity, or in our family's case yeoman farmers wanting more land than we had at home in kent, took up land grants and build farming estates and the developed the colonies. By the time the colonies stopped taking convicts the majority of the white population didn't have convict ancestors.
Our convict line came in recently after we declined and all the estates went off with distant cousins from senior branches of the family.

built*, then*

My grandad wasn't technically convicted, he came to dodge the trial though
>>
I'm not calling convicts "pioneers", they weren't, they were criminals. You misread

Anglo? Celtic? I’m just American.
>>
>>216287137
before ww2 why would you choose austalia over the US or Canada, same cheap price for land, climate bla bla. but say both canada had better opportunities just via their natural reasources for a man to thrive compared to the great barren down under, down under that is between indonesia and antarctica. fun to live down there at the bottom of the earth

That's a fair point I don't really have an answer to, you are right, north america would have already been established to a certain degree instead of aus colonies and nz having to be built from scratch coupled with the fact they did take convicts so a chunk of the population being/having that. Not all colonies took convicts (nz, south australia and the first couple decades of western australia) but the point about north america already being established is true, don't really have a good answer to that.
