It's been going on for a while, because Cathedrals often take somewhere in the ballpark of centuries to build. But it's fun to poke fun at Spanish being lazy (we do it ourselves) and also Catalans, being our local Jews, charge outrageous prices for the city's attractions, and that's one of the major ones - so they can take it easy while building and enjoying massive fees.
