And The Average Chinese citizens are too poor to afford cultural experiences. This is why, unlike South Korea or Japan, China can't export its pop culture to the West. To export pop culture, you first need the infrastructure and consumer structure to enjoy it in your own country. South Korean and Japanese pop culture dominates Asia because there are consumers and markets willing to consume it. So, Not even Chinese people outside China finds the Chinese culture is cool. The Chinese Communist government doesn't understand the delicate nature of cultural exports. They believe cultural exports are possible through mass-producing cheap replicas like AliExpress or Shein. Even in Asia, Chinese culture and China are considered uncool, So, their pop culture will never be considered cool in the West, like South Korea or Japan.
