In Finland we eat RYE BREAD

Happens in your country? Its better than white bread
>>
>>216386019
Yea and its rank
>>
>>216386019
I only have it with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on Christmas Day morning, honestly smoked salmon is overrated, I'm not bothered about it.
>>
>>216386019
In Russia we have rye bread that is infinitely better than finnshit
>>
>>216386721
I dont believe you

Yes. Rye bread with seed oils is PEAK
>>
>>216386790
that is just white bread with rye mixed in based on the color
>>
It really is much better
>>
>>216386019
I love rye bread, I used to eat whole loaves of it
>>
In Finland we also eat oat bread :O
>>
>>216386019
Good bread is good. Bad bread is bad.
I also prefer rye bread. But it's hard (impossible) to find a decent one here.
>>
For me it's nuts and raisins christmas loaf. With a thick slice of ham and mustard
>>
>>216386019
Unfortunately not yet but I hope I'll be able to fix this when I get my hands on some kind of oven
Living an ovenlet bakeless incel life is truly miserable
>>
>>216387529
You don't have ovens in Indonesia?
Here in Okinawa we don't have ovens which baffles me and disturbs my soul deeply. How is it even possible for an apartment to have no oven. In Russia even student dorms have ovens
>>
Bread is $7 a loaf here. I can only afford meat and dairy.
>>
>>216389189
How does that work? It's just wheat and rye. How do you manage to make meat cheaper than that?
>>
>>216389454
Even industrial bread is $4 a loaf, and unlike meat, bread just doesn't keep well inside a fridge so I end up throwing out most of it. I don't know how normal people afford bread anymore.
>>
>>216389189
>bread is 7$
Bro doesn't have an oven
>>
>>216389642
I tried, my brother in Christ. I just don't have the gift.
>>
>>216389586
You can cut the loaf in a half put the other half in a freezer.
>>
>>216389680
There is no gift needed, first bread is like first sex, guaranteed to be mid an awkward. You just gotta keep doing it and you will be making good bread starting from your second or third try. And rye bread is much easier to make than wheat bread, because rye flour has no gluten to work with so it does not require any kneading or folding. You just gotta know the rye lore to avoid mistakes like gooey crumb. Or you could mix in some wheat for confidence
>>
i like pumpernickel

Sounds promising. Maybe I'll try again with rye or pumpernickel. It's tastier anyway.
>>
finns eat zero veggies
>>
>>216386019
Yes, it was like the main bread in the Russian Empire and times before. During Soviet time the shift started, but it still was the main bread.
Unfortunately after the 90s it slowly dies out and not a majority anymore probably. The majority is grey bread now which is mixed.
>>
>>216389189
No it's not, stop going to whole foods
>>
>>216389953
True pumpernickel needs to be baked at low temps for 24 hours and is made not from flour but from crushed rye grain. You could try but I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner.
For good guides and recipes I recommend the chainbaker channel on youtube, it's a very informative chud-friendly baking resource with very good in-depth explanations of various baking techniques from basics to advanced stuff
>>
>>216390240
I go to Hannafords.
>>
>>216389189
>Bread is $7 a loaf here.

depending on what bread, how fresh and where you get it i assume. Theres 500g bread for 2.50 and 3 euro for 1kg for some types of bread here

There's an "artisanal bread" fad here which means supermarkets sell regular non-industrial bread for 6-7 dollars and fancy stores sell them for over 10 per loaf. You have to get factory bread if you want to spend less than 5 per loaf.

3 euros are already what bakeries also sell loafs at
>>
>>216390552
In Russia there is a controversial store with "no faggots allowed" caption posted at the doors which sells bread and other artisanal stuff like beer kvass etc at 10x the market price
The owner is famous for being a rich schizo and living an amish-like lifestyle

is it true that all american bread is sugary hyperprocessed garbage?
>>

Real bread is expensive in America because it's marketed as a premium version of mass produced slopbread. There's a much smaller market for it here, the majority of Americans are perfectly content with eating the slopbread that you can buy for 1 or 2 dollars a loaf. Any place that sells real, freshly baked bread always markets it as "artisanal" or whatever other marketing terms bakeries use to artificially inflate the cost.
>>216390240
Real bread is more expensive outside of supermarkets you bozo. The only grocery store near me that actually has a bakery is a Wegmans, and their cheapest full loafs start at $8. Alternatively you could go to a Walmart or Food Lion, but those places' "bakeries" just defrost frozen loafs they get shipped to them from a factory (I worked in one in high school). There's a small business bakery down the street from me that sells loafs for $11 or more, and it's barely better than the Wegmans bread. They just need to charge more because they're making less sales, they don't even do the bullshit marketing stuff I described in my above reply.

German bread is the definition of mediocre.
>It's subtle!!!!
No.
>>
>>216395021
I bake my own bread 1-2 times per week. It's just flour, water, salt and yeast. I wouldn't call it typical but I enjoy cooking and baking and once you've baked your own bread for a long time, you don't want Wonderbread

yeah, we have always been a powerhouse of rye bread

they taste best warm and just oven cooked, best bread
>>
>>216395331
I tried doing this for a while but I was so shit at it. I can make puff pastry just fine since it requires no rising, but I don't understand the process of kneading/folding/proofing/rising/etc. I should try again.
>>
>>216395434
picrel is good. everything is mixed by hand in one bowl

How does that differ from "pot"?
>>
>>216397024
It has thick ceramic walls, supposed to be used for slow cooking, meant to be put in the oven just as much as it is meant to be used on the stove
>>
>>216397024
it kinda has the features of the oven
its called Dutch because the design of it was inspired from the Dutch
>>
>>216397152
>>216397253
Seems too complicated
Ill just stick with "pot"
>>
I love rye bread holy shit. A boule of low-sugar pumpernickel or a dense seedy rye loaf makes me so glad I live in a major city. Poorfags and flyovers only have access to the ultraprocessed slop that is internationally known as American bread.
>>216396739
I hope hemp seeds become more popular in America for baking. Dumbshit feds banned agricultural hemp along with marijuana, but it's legal now.
>>
>>216396739
Rye bread with raisins is surprisingly good.
>>
>>216389454
>How does that work
You can basically say anything you want on the Internet, even if it's absurd. He's just making shit up. Bread is like $1 a loaf.
>>
>>216391122
What's the controversy? I'd love to shop in a store with no fags around
