Objectively speaking, East Germany offers very high life quality because it has modern, superb infrastructure built recently, often noticeably better than already worn out infra in west Germany. And east German cities usually top the rankings with the best income-to-cost of living ratio in all of the country. It's only a problem if you want to pursue a career in some specific industry like banking or anything innovative then there are simply no facilities like that in east Germany, but if you want to continue your existence as an average wagie (so like 80% of the society), it usually makes more sense to go for Leipzig than Frankfurt.
