I only learnt of Poland's existence when i was 16 and that was mostly because school books kept using the term "low countries" when talking about holland so i thought somewhere in Europe there was a bunch of "low countries" that were not france, england, portugal, italy, russia, Switzerland-sweden (i thought they were the same country) or spain, wich were the only european countries i knew about
