>>216563744I'm 33 and a physician. Changing specialties would need 4-6 years of residency. Other jobs would be working for state insurance or as a drug company representative which is whorish job. Other than that, I can go wait tables, low tier office jobs, store clerk, McDonalds, etc. If I wanted to do anything professional that is outside of medicine, it's 5 years of uni.

I changed fields dramatically in my 30s (used to work in a boring corner of the financial world, went back to school, am now a teacher), and I know a lot of people on either side of middle age who are on second, or in at least one case third, careers.Not everyone is comfortable going back to school as an adult, and in some industries it can be difficult to get a foot in the door as an older hire, but it’s certainly possible.
