After they kill the ascended civilization off, they now possess enough ascended technology to destroy the human race, and when they inevitably fight over the resources that the extinct whitey left behind, they will bring that about. Earth will be irradiated for some time, there will be strange cataclysmic weather, ice ages, great floods, etc, and then some sort of primitive mammal will learn how to hit each other with rocks and sticks and we'll start the cycle again
