In Europe I book "free" exams when it comes to blood or checkups. However when it comes to teeth and eyes it's almost normalized to not even think about hospitals/public facilities. I mean the services are there so why did people normalize having a dentist or optimistist? I mean aren't those part of the checkups?

Its normal here to do go to a public dentists. Actually i rarely hear of anyone going to a private doctor unless it's something very specific

Uh huh look at that fine buck.

A woman's ass if ever I've seen it

universal healthcare systems were formulated to keep miners, farmers and fishermen from being taken out of the workforce by injuries that are abstractly treatable but are too expensive for a working class serf to pay for out of pocket. You don't need teeth or perfect vision to swing a pickaxe at a coal seam so you're on your own for that

How about you just avoid sugar and brush your teeth?
>>
I heard that universal healthcare in Western countries is mostly about maximizing the "quantity" of life as opposed to quality

Not really, it's actually about cost - even in a 'free' healthcare system. The biggest barrier to quality healthcare is the number of qualified doctors, and increasingly you end up with non-doctor nurses and physician's assistants filling the role of doctors despite having no idea what they're doing. The basic flow chart is
>Do you have something obvious like a broken bone? If yes, go to a hospital and we'll get you treated.
>Do you have something non-obvious that I as a PA have no idea about? Okay, we'll get you an appointment with a specialist in a month.
>Did your visit to the specialist immediately treat your symptoms? If not, we'll schedule another appointment in a month.
>Oh, are you dying or in horrible pain? Well, to save costs, we'll recommend suicide; but we'd never ever ever ever pay for expensive medication.
And no, that's not 'American' private healthcare, that's Canadian and certain leftwing states 'free' public healthcare. The reality is we don't have enough doctors and because the taxpayer is the one paying they want you to die if you cannot be fixed cheaply. Mental healthcare is even worse, they just want you to shut up rather than treating you.

Same thing in aus.
The explanation I've heard is that when socialised healthcare was being introduced in the 20th century dentistry and optometry were excluded because both of these fields had well established professional populations with a long, influential history, that resisted this new, less profitable system from encroaching into their pre-existing market. There were already rich dentists that lobbied against dentistry being included, and basically the Guild of Optometrists had hundreds of years cornering the glasses market and weren't going to suddenly give it up.

I have medical, dental, eye and even life insurance through my job.
I just got new glasses that should cost $1600.00 but I got them for $600 with the insurance and I'm having a root canal and a new tooth put in for free next week with my dental insurance.
And if I die, my mommy gets $5 million.
I paid $30 for my yearly checkup with my doctor last month, everything was perfect, even my poop.

I see it in the bottom right

It's why you might as well just take care of your own health outside of emergency room shit/diseases like cancer. Especially now with things like getting your genome sequenced, blood work, and cost of peptides there's literally no excuse (assuming you're not a genuine retarded anyway)

Really? Meanwhile here in Warsaw the goddamn doctors always guilt trip me about getting non-gov covered "extras".
