>implying I try to speak with a certain accent in mind
I just speak with my generic ESL accent. I have zero interest in trying to sound like a native, but I do at least try to sound somewhat intelligible.
With that said, most american accents are superior to all other anglo accents. The only exception may be posh english, and not because it's elegant or anything. As a portuguese speaker, the phonology of pronouncing words sounds cleaner and more intelligible to my ears than any other native anglo accent. But again, only a minuscule fraction of bongs still speak with a posh accent in 2025.
