>>216595981They literally speak using sanskrit. The kushans are an empire from north india lower afghanistan. Ive got a history book on india which in yet to read but flipped to there because of berk
>>216595981Kentaro Miura was one of a kindI dont think we'll ever see that level of talent in a mangaka>>216596221Could be mughals no? We need a jeetologist here
posted it again award
>>216595981They are not, amigo. A Spaniard should know better not to pull an “arrr rook da same”
>>216596283>>216595981There was a literal Kushan empire stitching from Central Asia to Northern India with a king named Kanishka.
>>216596283It's been over 30 years since Berserk was first released and Japs STILL haven't surpassed him? With anything?
https://desuarchive.org/int/thread/212822632/#212822632Discuss something else retards
>>216595981He's literally wearing one of those crowns that Tibetan kings wear with a multi-headed snake idol on it. In what world would this be Kurdish? It's not like there was a kingdom called Kushan that was majority Hindu-Buddhist.
>>216596283The Kushans actually existed and were a pre-ancient Mahayana Buddhist dynasty from Central Asia that expanded into India and ruled its northern parts for hundreds of years. They formed shortly after the fall of the Mauryan Dynasty.Berserk's Kushan Empire shares names (like Ganiska/Kaniska) and some cultural similarities (ancient Sanskrit script) with the empire, but they are quite clearly just a result of Western Orientalism, borrowing aspects from how the region is perceived, a land of ancient mysteries. Lions? Elephants? Snakes? The yogi baba who does asceticism on a nail board, etc. A lot of their motifs are also borrowed from the Achaemenid Empire's war against Greece. One thing they are not based on is the Turkic tribes or the Ottomans.
>>216596944He is the greatest illustrator of all time by a few standard deviationsEverything he drew could be hung up in a museumAnd im not even particulalry a fan of berserk as a story its too grimy and rapey for my taste, but dude is on another level in every sense
>>216595981I remember a reddit post that I thought explained it well. Culturally they seem more northern India with some Persian influence, but their political role in the story is more akin to the Ottoman Empire. Japanese authors like to mix together their different inspirations all the time, like Anno adding Christian symbolism because it looks cool.
>>216597664In terms of illustrations no, I was talking about content, the story is what stands out. Someone like Jean Giraud or Juan Díaz Canales makes Miura's illustrations look like a toddler drew them, he plagiarizes a lot too, he straight up copied one of Hieronymous Bosch's paintings.
>>216597851Lies and slander. This is a jean giraud painting, a child's scribble compared to what miura pumps out.

>>216598209It's colored and he drew that like 10 years before he went professional. Picrel is a single panel from Blacksad. You don't produce a million part series, uncolored, and on cheap paper and have pride in being an illustrator he's clearly more concerned with the series.
>>216597833>like Anno adding Christian symbolism because it looks cool.>nearly Current Year + 11>people STILL parroting this
>>216598676
>>216598793Still wrong, but k
>>216598659He has a good grasp on colors but come on you cant compare him to Miura
>>216598843Miura was alright mostly for his ability to draw decent gekiga and keep up a narrative. Picrel is a Bosch painting he traced over for a panel and he's also done the same with M.C. Escher paintings. At one point he was almost sued for tracing over frames of Army of Darkness, which was one of his favorite movies. Do I care that he does this? No I like Berserk it's interesting. Do I think he's a bad illustrator? No, but he's definitely not good he's a manga artist through and through.
