The lakes began to shrink considerably after the 17th century, but they still covered a large area at the beginning of the 20th century. It was in the mid-20th century that all the work was done to completely eliminate the lakes.

At the end of the 19th century, Mexico City and its surrounding areas were characterized by their cool climate, due to the lakes that regulated the temperature, abundant vegetation, very fertile land, and a region of local water transport.
Many neighborhoods of Mexico City, which were formerly independent cities, were characterized by having docks, navigable rivers, lakes, marshes, ponds, waterfalls, and forests.

> LE MESOAMERICANS DIDNT KNOW THE WHEEL

The spanish described mesoamericans using a system of pulleys, moving stones with logs & even mills in their writings. This could not had been possible without understanding of rotary motion. I attribute this downgrade of discourse to anglos meddling in mesoamerican/spanish history. They seem to be very ignorant or malicious about anything Hispanic-related

Those existed as far back as the Sphinx. The Mesoamericans also had razor-sharp surgical tools thanks to obsidian. That does not excuse them from not inventing something as primitive as a round thingy.
>>
>>216599958
the ancient Brits invented chariots on their own. four horned riding saddles were invented independently in different parts of the world. but wooden construction machinery needs wheels no matter where you are, eventually you would have to figure it out or you wouldn't be able to lift anything with a machine.

I understand perfectly.
The great complex of the Temple and former Convent of San Francisco, being the largest monastic complex in all of the Americas, was full of art.
But in the end, mexicans decided to destroy it despite its more than 300 years of history and replace it with buildings like the Torre Latinoamericana.
While the Torre Latinoamericana is very symbolic, mexicans maintain it in a deplorable state.
>>
>>216600320
The ancient Britons definitely did not invent chariots independently.
they where still using them when Caesar invaded putting them 2000 years behind everyone else long after most other Mediterranean and Near Eastern societies had abandoned them in favor of cavalry.

Yeah.

It was a mistake. It was not different from what Romans and Semites did here in Spain with local tribes. To replace something unique with another mediocre copy-paste of the metropolis.

Said so, you are at time to make nuahtl or mayan your national language.

Nah. I'm from Merida and we actually have Maya language being taught in elementary schools again. Unlike fagztec larpers who feel ashamed of speaking nahuatl (gay ass language) and think excelling at crying at white pipo is some kind of Olympic sport is better than trying to rebuild their culture

This a false debate because as I've already explained, spanish wrote the mesoamericans used things that can only could have invented with knowledge of rotatory motion, such as rollers to compact limestone.

But this is the current status of discussing anything meso-american related. It has been degraded to discussing if mesoamericans knew the wheel or if they were even sentient beings.

The main reason mesoamericans didnt use the wheel for transportation is because the elites simply didnt want to.

It was a very stratified society. In order to maintain that stratification, the elites came up with the ideology of sacrifice (the mexica carried this concept to the extremes with their militaristic culture)

Doing labour for the community was a form of sacrifice. So was carrying the elites on palinquins.

Its the same reason the spanish prohibited equastrian transport to the conquered peoples.

Looks like a cheap amusement park made with stucco, reminds me of certain areas from Disneyland Paris or Futuroscope.
>>
>>216601509
the main reason is that you would need a class of skilled workers to build transportation but you needed their heads to make the sun rise.
