The only thing that kept the spanish empire united was the recognition of Carlos IV/Fernando VII as king

This was broken when the Junta De Sevilla rejected Carlos IV abdication to Napoleon dynasty

This led to the desintegration of the spanish empire as a whole

andres de santa cruz the first protector of the confederation failed and it certainly didnt help that newly independent chilean and argentinians saw it as a menace so they did all possible to have it dissolve
