I remember being assigned one book for English class in HS for the entire year, and even then, half the class didn't finish it.

>>216613487in america if you're smart and in a half-decent school district you'll usually take AP english literature in high school, but outside of that it's pretty light and getting lighter
>>216613487>rape is the most reprehensible and evil act a person can possibly commit>it is my right to cocktease horny men constantly with slutty clothes and pictureswhy are yt women like this?
>>216613487Saar, it leads to romance!

>>216613677women love to wave their pussies in front of horny men's faces, even if they don't find the men attractive. they get a massive ego boost from having ugly guys and old guys and dads horny for them.
>>216613701Men will literally fuck anyone and anything including minors, animals and each other after two drinks like that's not a compliment

>>216613487I have an A in A-Level English Literature
>>216613487i did receive a class in literature and another in spanish grammar, im not sure if thats part of the standard curriculum because it was a private school, but we were never assigned to read a book, we just memorized the different types of literary texts and their characteristics, which i dont remember because I believe that is the sort of thing you can only learn by reading them.
My high school's assigned reading consisted of Shakespeare, The Crucible, The Scarlet Letter, the memoirs of this WW2 bomber, and some realistic fiction books the English teachers liked
Only in university we had to read a book per week and we had a weekly exam and then we all discussed it afterwards and the professor would explain to us the biography of the author and the historical and cultural context of why it was written. Out of every book I liked The Golden Ass the most
>>216613487I never read anything that was mandatory. People just don't read anymore unless it's romantasy slop for women to goon to.How the fuck am I supposed to read The Deluge in a week nigga, there's no point. Might as well not even try.
>>216613487>I remember being assigned one book for English class in HS for the entire year, and even then, half the class didn't finish it.iirc, there was one bookclub/group reading thing per year, but the rest of the time you could choose your own book to do a project on. i did like having a choiceenglish class was the best class. i still read a lot today but i don't write jackshit unless you count these posts
>>216613487Not books, but i was taught poems when i was a child. It probably was the reason why i didn't like reading them until i got to college. Only a public school would think that talking for two hours about spanish and indigenous poems to a 12 years old would be a good idea
