Why do China and Belarus have so few museums? I visited both and their museums were shit, low access to the archives for my research, people didn't seem to care at all that there are no compositors of history. I was in Togo, Benin, Nigeria for a research project and while they have few museums people took pride in them and the archives were convenient to use. China and Belarus are such fucking standouts as countries with an abysmal museum culture.

If you haven't go to your local history museums and you'll meet people who are super passionate and can teach you a lot and will be happy to let you dig through the archives.

How non-Jew familes that had a Jew marry in reacted (using documentation of wills, unstudied primary docs like correspondences between family members, etc) and a lot more.This angle has never been done before. Belaurs by far had the worse access to their archives and the worst museums.

Westerners are high because of holohoax museums, so fake.
can't speak for China but with Belarus it's easy - there is barely any historical heritage in this country, it was almost only swamps, forests and potato fields for most history, and the little heritage that was there, was destroyed in WW2. Not to mention the current Belarussian political narrative is to detach itself from all the Belarussian history before 1941 and deeming it as "foreign"/"occupier's", so obviously they don't see it as worthy presenting in museums. Their museums are mostly focused on WW2 and Red Army partisans, communism and folk culture.
