This data only looks like that because our statistical office doesn't include 'temporary immigrants' into our population, unlike all other nations (not sure why). In fact we have like 2-3 million Ukrainians and other east Slavs + hundreds of thousands of Asians/Latinx/Africans working/studying here

After WW2 the Polish government treated them as Ukrainians, so potentially a threat for stability of the state, so they forcibly resettled most of them into western/northern Poland (so called Akcja Wisła). That's why to this day you can find abandoned Lemko villages in the mountains. They had beautiful orthodox church architecture, btw, it's even listed as Unesco heritage:
