Completing the training camp doesn't enroll you in the military, it's just so the government can say you've been trained. Because literally every male has to do this, the standards for the training are extremely low, yet men who come out the other end acting as if they're been through war.The US military training isn't compulsory, it's by choice. The training is for the soul purpose of taking enlistees and shaping them into capable military personnel. As a result, US military training is much longer and more strenuous, as afterwards you're going to be doing legitimate military service rather than going back to your job at Nokia or whatever.
