Why they don't consider themselves part of eastern Europe? You never see them taking part in eastern European discussions, sharing eastern European experiences and the same "cultural code" that exists all the way from Tirana to Vladivostok. I've never seen a German flag complaining about depressing life in commieblocks, rude never-smiling shop assistants or annoying babushkas observing everyone from their balconies in a break between Turkish soap operas.

Is that because they're ashamed?

They don't want to be lumped into the same category as Poles.
>>
>>216626060
They're generally considered eastern europe though? Eastern europe = warsaw pact
>>
>>216626060
You polacks yourselves don’t like being categorized as Eastern Europe, why would germans?
>>
>>216626113
Okay but then why Ossis don't participate in Eastern European discussions and debates? Why they never share their experiences?

I mean what's there to discuss about? The only thing that we have common is our history, but everyone on this board was either a toddler or quark in a ballsack. And I would lean out of the window and say, that the modern East German experience is way different than the modern East European experience. Like I don't think that we share the same concerns or problems with you. Also, on this board, from 10 German flags, there's maybe 1 flag from East Germany and they probably prefer to chill in /deutsch/ anyways... for whatever reason.
>>
>>216626060
They were eastern european for maybe 40 years. Poland has been eastern european forever
>>
>>216626337
The Ossiland is a net beneficiary of federal funds anyway.
>>
>>216626417
I don't think it's comparable, Austrians didn't have communism, alliance with the USSR and everything it entails.

That's actually interesting, could you elaborate? I'd love to know what exactly makes east Germany different from other eastern European countries
>>
>>216626916
Are you stupid or just pretending to be? I spelled it out already. Eastern Germany was eastern european for just a few decades. Poland is eastern european forever.
>>
>>216626958
What makes east Germany different from Czechia then
>>
>>216626879
we didnt have communism or a soviet alliance nor a american alliance

The only people in east germany that care are some boomer nostalgics like everywhere, younger people are leaving the place and ossis are shamed
>>
>>216627365
>we didnt have communism
That's why your experience is incomparable to ours and I have no idea why you would ever think it could be.
East Germany on the other hand was in the same political, military and economic bloc with other easties so they should feel related somehow.
There are certain areas where eastoids can understand each other without words because many things works the same way or similar way everywhere in the east so reading what Hungarians, Bulgarians or Kyrgyz anons write here feels like they were also talking about my country. But you don't ever see east Germans feeling any kind of connection, weird
>>
>>216627541
Also, I'm not saying one should like that communist heritage. But he should at least feel familiar with that, understand the code. Like you won't tell me east Germans don't have babushkas spying on everyone else in the commieblock because this is pan-eastern experience, it is like that in Poland, Czechia, North Macedonia, Uzbekistan, Estonia and Russia so why wouldn't it exist in east Germany? I just don't believe.

The Reunification I'd say. It removed problems, that Eastern European countries had to struggle with, but also created unique problems as well. Since then everything relating to the life style of East Germans and Eastern Europe has slowly fading away and generally slowly turned East Germany into a worse West Germany. Honestly, if the West wasn't so hostile to the East and the old wouldn't have told the young about life in East Germany, then nobody would even call themself East German today.

I would also say that our situation is unique compared to the East and West European experience. Like how I see it, Eastern Europeans see us as entitled assholes, who were lucky, that they had someone to rebuild them, but still are complaining. Western Europeans see us as complaining, stupidj leeches and just a millstone around Germanys neck. Nobody really cares about our struggle and either downplay it or see it as necessary evil, which is honestly one of the most frustrating aspects of being an East German.

Although this is just my experience talking with eastern and western europeans on this board and seeing the rare threads and the post below them about East Germany, which are mostly negative or schizo rambling anyways.

without ossis voting conservative you'd be the gayest country on earth and probably in ruin 15 years ago as far as i am concerned they should be kissing your hands

We are genetically superior to you. Of course they ate, and so are we, Czechs, and anyone else with a shred of dignity. No eastern european wants to be eastern european, because there's nothing admirable about being eastern european. To be eastern european is an uncomplimentable trait.
