How do I become an intellectual in my country I'm sick and tired of being stupid
>>216627996try reading
>>216627996Read but dont try to act le smart
>>216627996Watch more anime.
>>216628025>>216628051>>216628061What books should I read and what intellectual anime should I watch
Is dress up darling considered an intellectual anime or no
Start watching cuckold porn (or increase your intake)
>>216627996You are stupid or you aren't, can't change that. You can try to compensate with knowledge. Try reading history. Start with ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt.Read the Wikipedia article for every country (not dead ones, current ones), USoids are laughable unaware of geography.
>>216628164I'm not stupid though
>>216628111maybe start with philosophy. try western first. start with Plato’s Republic and move on to Aristotle and so on. go to the early Christians like Augustine and Aquinas. Maybe throw in Machiavelli and then get to the liberals. I dunno
>>216628265this
>>216627996Don't begin with the basic bitch and braindead antiquity history or muh philosophy. If you're actually American then begin with your own country. Learm about its history and by that I don't mean just military history but also the history of cultures, people, arts, economy, and so on. Gather a broad yet depthful knowledge of every state in your country, when they came to existence, when they were settled, what are the culture of their people, what has happened in those states and so on.Once you're done actually amassing both useful and trivial knowledges about your country, then pick a country/continent/era and begin to study that too.
Do you mean something specific by intellectual? Like academic knowledge or? There's pretty few real life instances where you need to be versed in old literature or stuff like that, or math and physics
>>216628061Why do you think anime is smart
>>216627996your own curiosity will guide you
>>216627996Probably start with the trivium by miriam joseph. From there, I'd say start studying American polemics, Essays, moral critics, history, etc. I'd also say studying a science would be good for you.
>>216627996Study logic and argumentation. That's all you need to seem smart and convincing to illiterates.
>>216627996stop saying "like" so much. you will sound smarter than 90% of americans.
>>216628689Yeah I tend to notice that smart people stay curious about thing, as in they want to know and learn things. You don't need to be a mega expert in a thing, but even if you know a little bit about it, you might be able to apply it to something else as well. And then you'll just naturally build more knowledge and understanding about the worldAnd don't be afraid to fail. If you're trying to learn a new thing, you can't just give up. You'll run into something that doesn't work, but then just try again. Even if it doesn't work, at least you'll know why it's a bad idea. If you stay in your comfort zone, you'll stagnate. There's that saying like you don't want to be the smartest guy in the room, which means that there's nobody to learn things from anymore. But it also applies to yourself, if you don't try to learn anymore, you won't learnAnd try to not be negative, nobody likes that guy that just sulks in the corner like this is stupid, this won't work. And how are you going to motivate yourself either, if you approach it with the assumption that it's dumb and gay
>>216628967yeah, I think most people lack continuity, when they are interested in a subject that turns out to be complex and requires time to master they give up, which is a shame
>>216629462It can be really frustrating too, I've been doing some projects with people, I didn't know shit when we started but now I'm supposedly some kind of expert that people ask stuff from, like how do you do this and that. Then there's one guy that seems to just give up and is afraid to try anything, I try to motivate him and help out with stuff but he just keeps being really negative and insecure. I suppose he has some self esteem issues in general, but it gets kinda tiresome. The only difference between us is that I just dick around with the tools and try out if I can do a thing, then either I figure out how to do it or at least I know how you should not do things lol
>>216629702what a sad casehe should convince himself that he wants to learn a few new things for himself alone, like nobody will bother to test his level of understanding so there is no real need to worry about it, but I don't think anyone can help him, he has to do it himself
>>216629921>three commas>didn’t ever bother to put a periodSigh…
>>216630022excuse my lack of grammar, anon
>>216630022Maybe I have brain problems but a full stop makes a message seem so curt, I don't think I ever end a message in a period online
>>216630053It’s ok. I really should be on meds again. I feel like everything makes me depressed lately.

>>216627996Accept that you're brown and therefore a genetic dead end for IQ. At least that's what i did and now my stupidity doesn't bother me much
>>216630406There's no way some guy in Sri Lanka is reading this much western philosophy
>>216627996Get it on notepad or paper. When you have a question, assume you don't have the answer.Lay out how you can answer the question or a series of sub-questions you can ask (which you also don't have the answer to). Find answers and compare them, then form more questions about the veracity of the information, the writers' intentions, or the perspectives involved. (Nab source URLs and quotes, as though you were writing an essay.)Write all of this down and organize them in folders and word documents so you can return these questions later.Put the information you have together into a coherent narrative and talk to people interested in the same topic.Get your shit pushed in because you don't actually know what you're talking about. Ask questions about the answers and see how well the responses you got hold up in the face of the information you have, as well as information you later acquire. Mark it down in a word document.Eventually, download Zotero and Obsidian to commit to a full lifestyle of analyzing shitposts and books. You only might become an intellectual. If you're like me, you'll become an information hoarder who has no use for the things he nabs.If you want to skip to the end of this life path, the best form of intelligence is functional intelligence. Someone who can talk his way into a high-paying position is applying his intelligence in a way that benefits him, but men like me, whose intelligence is only good for contextualizing centuries-old narratives and overthinking kids' shows can call ourselves "intellectual" as a cope. Still, there's some satisfaction in having the answers to the question that matter to you, and an ability to discuss these with people you respect. It'll ground you as a person, so good on you for seeking this out.
