Actually I believe it was possible for a Polish man to get a Swedish wife before 1990 because Polish immigration to the west back then were mostly well educated and well behaved political oppositionists who often had "noble" experience of serving a sentence in prison for political reasons and back in the 1980s the Polish struggle against evil commies was kind of seen with compassion and respect in the west. I don't know particularly about Sweden but I know there were Polish political emigrants from the 80s who had English wives for example. It only changed after 1990 and especially after 2004 when the vast majority of immigrants were already poorly educated rural people looking for the simplest jobs

I actually considered visiting Sweden for tourist purposes but I resigned because of the poor image of Polish men there, I'd be probably followed by a security guard in every supermarket and if I rented a bike the police would stop me to ask where I stole it
