For me, Romance Europe is more important than Europe as a whole, which includes people with whom I have very little in common and whom I don't respect, like the Protestant Germanic peoples, and people who have little in common with me but whom I respect, like the Catholic and Orthodox Slavs. France, Portugal, and Italy are the only countries with which I believe Spain shares a civilization. Even so, the French tend to oppose this and prefer the Franco-German axis (which is a false axis since they often have conflicting interests). Their loss.
