If Americans hate socialism so much why did they help the Soviet Union in WW2?

Nazism was a bigger threat, in the sense that the barbaric methods used by the nazis could lead to socialist-proletariat revolutions.USSR by 1939 was already reactionary & anti-socialist. The Stalinist had won the war against the bolsheviks.
