rescued this cat from work yesterday and took it to the vet, he got his paw cut from glass shards at the restaurants parking lot that im at. now im not sure what to do with it now, never had an animal before

Forgive him when he acts out, he's hurt and in a new, stressful situation, he might not be himself.Also get him a cardboard box, he'll want a place to hide, or chill out.
If you want to get in cat's good graces, cook steamed trout fillet, no spices, pull apart, check for bones. Both of my cats would sell their souls for it. It's a once a week treat of the highest order, and a big event in my household.
