What's the difference between an emperor and a king
>>
>Quelle est la différence entre un roi et un empereur ? Un roi est souvent à la tête d'un seul pays, son royaume. Un empereur est à la tête d'un grand territoire qui réunit plusieurs royaumes

king rules his own
emperor rules over foreigners, basically a type of globohomo
>>
A king rules over a single nation and its people, while an emperor rules over or exerts influence over various nations and peoples.

A king rules over governors and an emperor rules over kings. It's similar to the Persian concept of 'king of kings' it's debatable if most emperors have had much influence over kings however.

But if the Romans hated kings then why did they have emperors
since emperors are apparently uber kings
>>
>>216656697
Because they didn't call them that

romans were retarded

Roman emperor were not kings
>>
>>216656424
A king rules over one group of people while the emperor over mutiple groups of people and even other vassal kings

Basically in late empire roman emperor were Augustus, ie, retaining his titles specifically first citizen and dictator for life, the successor would be Caesar, these titles were not comparable to Rex or king, since king was just for a group of people where as both Augustus (emperor) and Caesar derive power from senate

They are paramount power but radically different methods
