Goslar's playground edition

>do (You) like going to places, taking photos and blogposting about it?
Welcome to /flag/ + /extraflags/, a comfy 130 IQ general for Extraflags users that combines your passions for geography, maps AND travel by using the Extraflags extension

Threadly activities include travelposting (local trips are welcome too :^), urbex, wilderness exploration, hunting for radioactive minerals, eclipse and aurora hunting, (extra)flag collecting, map filling, cycling across Europe, other autistic activities and overall funposting

>What is Extraflags?
Extraflags is an open-source browser userscript that lets you choose regional flags, like states and provinces, to add to your already existing default country flag.
Turns out it's very well suited for travel posting because you can flex with the ultrarare (or at least, nice) flags you're travelling to, rather than using it as a tripcode for tripfagging in other (low iq) threads

Instructions and video guides for installing Extraflags can be found here: https://flagtism.gitlab.io/Extra-Flags-for-4chan/
Requests to add or change flags can be made here: https://gitlab.com/flagtism/Extra-Flags-for-4chan/-/issues

second for anyone wondering how i got the new flags in Hungary, the tranny previously in charge of the server never did a database extract before decommissioning it so i had to reconstruct the Goslar dump semi-manually

here's the dump https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ebinBuddha/Flag-Miner/refs/heads/master/FlagDumps/2025/reconstruction%2020250415.xml
full dump at the end of previous thread. that was the dump between Trieste's last dump and the hack, that unfortunately did cause the thread to get deleted. fucking soyteens

Mine: 28 countries, 55 first-levels (without counting the ones I passed through)

Outside of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, I've got maybe three years worth of trips within Europe left, at most.

>one or two trips for Scandinavia and the missing Eesti region
>one or two trips for the Balkans
>Iceland
>Cyprus? Possibly included in a Balkan trip

There's still a few regions I've been to but need proof pics for but that's low priority obviously.

you should do a trip through Istanbul to Georgia. I hear that country is a wonderful tourist destination and you can avoid areas in Turkey with Kurdish separatism.
>>
>>216686884
>areas in Turkey with Kurdish separatism.
Those areas are safe af, there hasn't been any danger since 2019. Also, we are in the peace process, PKK surrendered and laid down weapons.

There used to be ferries between Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia across the Black Sea but those have been dead since the Ukraine war. Would have allowed for a lot of cool itinerary options.

>>216687142
Even Iraqi Kurdistan is pretty safe to visit.
>>
>>216689511
i mean like you could travel through Trebizond, I hear that's a very pretty part of turkey. You're so lucky that you get to travel as much as you do, I have only left America once and I was like 5.
>>
>>216689701
Yeah but where to go after fucking around in the Caucasus? Russia would be cool but I've been to Ukraine so many times I'm scared they'd lock me up. There's a ferry from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan across the Caspian see but Azerbaijan's land borders have been closed for years for God knows why. No ferries across the Black Sea to return to Europe. Iran? A German-French cyclist just recently got arrested there for four months on espionage charges. Georgia and Armenia are somewhat of a dead-end. Maybe the Arabian peninsula could work now that Syria is safe enough again.
>>
>>216690260
Don't go to Russia. There was an American travel vlogger who went there a year ago and got imprisoned for political reasons. It's not a safe country for tourists, and probably won't be until the current regime is destroyed.
>Georgia and Armenia are somewhat of a dead-end. Maybe the Arabian peninsula could work now that Syria is safe enough again.
Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan would make for a good trip.
>>
>>216690349
I just realized you don't want to fly. I would expect Azerbaijan's land borders to open eventually if the current peace situation lasts.
>>
>>216690406
The land border closure has nothing to do with the geopolitical situation. The Azerbaijan government closed the borders during Covid and has extended the closure ever since lol.

still, before the ukraine war nobody would have batted an eye. doubt you'd get to naryan-mar these days as a foreigner without getting anal-probed. it's just gas and oil, wtf are you doing there?
>>
>>216696520
there seems to be something with vloggers. so far all the "stories" about western tourists questioned in russia were vloggers or vloggers trying to conduct journalism. This happens to russian vloggers too, Eli from Russia was questioned for filming in a city center in Ingushetia

tldr; don't be a vlogger lmao

>Even Iraqi Kurdistan is pretty safe to visit.
Oh yes, my dad's friend does business in Erbil (I mentioned this to Ovodda I think). Even during the height of ISIS back in 2014/15, he didn't have any issues.
