we live in a forested area, we chopped wood and made a fire to keep warm. a sauna functions on a similar basis, throwing water on hot rocks, it will go above 100 celsius
>>
>>216703721
famines were usually because of crop failure

Log houses and furnaces exist more than a couple millenias, you know.

Tibetans too, they have a DNA gene for surviving cold.

Sounds like a really shitty life. Impressive that they could survive at all though.

Our winters were always harsher than theirs, but the point is that every house had a large clay oven.

It's honestly not that bad, milder climate is the reason why 90% of people live near the coast here, congrats on getting an iphone
>>
Not many know this but the vikings used to sail down to gran canaria in the winter
>>
>>216706715
Because they get wet and heavy, they were mostly fishermen, so they used grease instead to protect themselves against the icy winds and rain.

Besides they were nomads, guess they just didn't feel the need of it, because unlike them Selknams used them.

There are areas in Scandinavia where it doesn't snow much or drop below zero and thats where most people lived until recently.

You don't think about how north scandinavia is, if you compare to canada, the same areas in the same latitude are unlivable wastelands, its only because of the jet stream that we can live here.
>>
>>216709950
before the gulf stream we lived in spain, italy and greece
