does this landscape look properly english or just generic medieval?
I hate that perspective the artist rendered that building in and I hate you
>>216784009i made this so you only hate mebut why do you hate it
>>216784048I don't like the perspective it tickles my brain
>>216783980It looks more Central European or Baltic to me
>>216784077oh you're not ment to actually see it all at once you're supposed to see it in the background
>>216784129did you draw that?
>>216783980it looks generic medieval. When these castles were converted to residences all of the open air windows would have gotten glass and they would have added rooves to the towers
>>216784162if you're asking about the actual castle itself and wither it's looks British, it doesn't. British castle keeps were much more simpler than the picture. Your drawing looks like a fusion between Normal castles and German/ central European Castle inspired chateaus which were created after the renascent period
>>216784127The stones around the base of each building are something I associate with castles in places like Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, etc and especially with mediaeval structures that were rebuilt in brick gothic style
>>216784160yeah im completely burnt out after it>>216784162its kind of hard to sell the england specifically to the teacher twithout the modern british square windows but yeah i should change them>>216784130you would see something like this not the whole thing at once
>>216784261what time period are you trying to capture? you mentioned "medieval or British" in your post but, that's a time period or a setting - doesn't make much sense
>>216784213yeahnow that i look at it it doesnt even look medieval at allim just coping now, ive been at it for four days and today i spent some 8 hours sitting here drawing little bricks
>>216784261The building it instantly made me think of was the Rock of Cashel, in Ireland, but once you look more closely each element is very different and that's why it looks more like a continental European castle than anything in the British Isles.
>>216784306>what time period are you trying to captureits supposed to be plantagenet/late norman england but in the style of scott pilgrim, but i physically abhore scott pilgrim, and also the assignment has these character design things where im ment to make a bunch of reptiles that run a restaurant, other people got cooler stuff like the romans, china, vikings,
>>216783980These hedges and windows are zainichi Enlightenment o algo. You have to remember that your average peasant couldn't afford glass in medieval times. and that castles were defensive structures, not some something for pompous fags. That came later.
>>216784385The tower of London is a Norman keep. Norman Keeps easy to draw, they're the most bog standard cube's with 4 towers on each side
>>216784385and this is the food truck they use
>>216784437>Norman Keeps easy to draw, they're the most bog standard cube's with 4 towers on each sidei didnt know that when making the sketch
castle looks ok, but houses too modernthatch roof, no chimney
>>216783980looks like that but without the houses, commoners stay away from the castle preferably with a moat of water
>>216784385>ts supposed to be plantagenet/late norman englandThe castles built by Edward Longshanks in Wales would be a good choice. Caernarfon Castle was supposed to resemble the walls of Constantinople
I don't know about the architecture but it looks a little barren. The castle is cool but I'd expect more trees and hedges. See how the plots of farmland land are divided by hedgerows?
>>216784401aren't like 90% of pompous gay castles German
>>216784513
>>216783980VGHhome
>>216784468This is probably the best example of a Norman keep
>>216784442I like this a lot, nice job
>>216783980also, looking at these pictures,>>216784500>>216784513>>216784542Your castle is missing something of a round tower. Could make it more visually interesting. The walls look a little low as well but that could be due to perspective. Remember, you need tall towers for spotting the French from afar and thick high walls to keep the French out.
>>216784442feels like something out of windwaker or some other toony fantasy game. very cool. not fire-safe though.
>>216784540The time period, you fucking retard. The pompous gay castles are all modern. Actual castles ie medieval forts were never pompous; it's like trying to make a US base into Trump's mansion for no reason. Neuschwanstein for example was never meant as a fortification. It was just a way for the Bavarian king to vgh (and bankrupt his nation in the process).
another thing that pops into my head when I think of the English countryside are these stone fences.
I thank everyone i will use the advice for the rest of the project but i will perish if i redraw this with 2 bigger assignments on the list
>>216784693It's also worth mentioning the majority of real fortified castles were either cannibalized for their stone or converted into pompous gay castles (residences)
>>216784724tsmt, and hedges too I remember those really well when I was in england when I was 12
>>216784724Sean the sheep is what pops into my mind and that's what it actually looks like too.
>>216783980It makes me think of those 19th century castles built by wealthy aristocrats - great drawing
