You can go through the east metropolis (Washington, Philly, Boston) , a lot of it is walkable, it has the most historical sites, the culture of the Mid-Atlantic is sort of neutrally American. If you want you can pop next door into the Amish parts of Pennsylvania and that's basically what all of flyover america is like

California has a wide range of scenery from mountains, beaches, redwood forests, and deserts. Oregon, Washington, and Idaho have beautiful forests. Colorado is a safe place to go if you want to see the rocky mountains. Wyoming and Montana are amazing, but spooky as fuck. If your car dies, you die. I absolutely hate New York City and Washington DC, but they are significant. Miami is the only place I would bother going to in Florida. Too many old folks and families on vacation here. Nothing else is worth going to.
