It would work though, I did it before.

Wouldnt the guy be accelerating with the chair?
>>
>>217097635
I'm Black. Troll guy jumping up from the chair only slightly increases his vertical velocity, but his overall vertical velocity is negative, approximately -98m/s^2(assuming he jumps from near the top of a 10m tall building)and so when he hits the ground and rapidly decelerates, a large amount of kinetic energy will be transferred to his body, severly injuring him.
>>
>>217097708
Hence why he jumps off the chair before it lands
>>
>>217097950
He would have to have Superstrength in order to cancel his downward velocity with his jump, he would have to be able to jump over the burning building from the ground.

What if you just stepped over your own foot in rapid succession, faster than you fall, and achieve the miracle of flight?
>>
>>217097991
For you, maybe.

What if you get strong enough to deadlift your body weight, step on o barbell and deadlift yourself from the floor flying away?

The person who made these troll comics really hated Newton. I'm sensing a bit of passive aggression here.

cuz physics dont make no god damn sense
>>
>>217097635
Because the chair is weak and will instantly explode and smash its jagged broken pieces into your crotch after landing. That's assuming you can somehow keep yourself upright and grip the chair hard enough to not fall of it from a 7th story fall.
>>
The energy you need to instantly stop your fall is the same you would need to reach the floor you fell off jumping. If you just want to stop and land at 5 m/s, which should be harmless, the energy that a 70 kg human (which could reach a speed of 19 m/s jumping from the 6th floor) should transmit to the chair would be around 11800 J. That would be launching a 15kg chair at 40 m/s (144 km/h or 90 mph) and equivalent to jumping and reaching a height of 17 m

Wouldn't it be less than that because of air resistance?

depends how strong your jump is

there is air resistance both ways, it wouldnt be exactly the same but pretty pretty similar in such short distance

>>
>>217100232
I thought since the jump would just need to nullify the speed, in the instant after the jump the velocity of the person from the perspective of the air would be 0, so there would be no air resistance pushing him down.

if the chair is not stationary you would just be pushing the chair downwards with your legs
you can try it out by laying on the ground in that position but sideways but in a way that bottom side of the chair not touching anything
>>
>>217101666
it's weird how no one here can just visualize this and tell instantly
im too high iq to be posting here with you midwits
