Aren’t you and the Swiss the only ones in yuropa who have your snowflake plugs?

The best part is that fecalians have adapters for everything that needs earth
In new buildings you have a mix of schuko and fecalian

Alessandro Volta is to blame desu.

Bri'sh plugs are better.

And single-earth CEE socket > Shuko.
Shuko is ass

Why didn't all countries agree on an international standard when they introduced electricity to homes? Would have been much simpler.

They didn't even agree on which side of the road they should drive.
Tbf at the time the concept of global market had yet to come, anything was made locally.

these are for daily use interchangeable, they all accept a standard ungrounded two-prong, you can even hammer a standard two prong into a brit outlet and charge your phone but its not really recommended.
>>
>>217150640
i don't get it. that's just a normal socket
>>
>>217151703
The EU should regulate this
>>
>>217150640
As good as it is, you should never, ever draw more than 8 amperes (~1800 W) continously.
>>217150934
British plugs might be better technically, but the plug itself is unwieldly large.

99% of EU is using schuko-F universal plugs and the rest could just replace sockets to something normal its not like the swiss have to redesign their whole grid

>>217150934
>>217155042
british plugs are a case of americans overrating the shit out of them because the american plugs are even worse

the french/german euro standard has all the advantages of it and more
>has a small ungrounded variant
>is smaller in both versions
>comes in both straight and right angle variant
>german and ungrounded variant is reversible
>>
>>217151802
>can't be turned 180 degrees

based, we have that type too
>>
Switzerland allows higher current and 3-phase power to be used in variants of the standard home socket. how cool is that?
>>
>>217155042
>but the plug itself is unwieldly large.
as if the euro plug isn't also ridiculously oversized
>>
>>217155781
The Schuko strikes the perfect balance of not being flimsy, nor to large. The American socket suffers from being first. It sucks, but search your heart, and you'll find this to be true.
>>
>>217151703

>>
>>217155097
these things are the best because they also work with the old ass plugs that have no ground. there is no extra dong poking out. so it just works
>>
>>217155553
Who the fuck has 3-phase at home, I've only seen it once in a guy's workshop which was built in a separate cabin. The guy was nut about DIY.

standard schuko is 16A and i definetly dont see the benefit of having a 400V plug confusingly simmilar?
i think norway might be the only euro country left with both 230v 3~ and 400v 3~ and we know the importance of not mixing up these things. you really have to be dim to do so since 400v always carry a neutral 230v doesnt, but we have different plugs for it anyway. pic related is a 230v 3~ plug.
>>
My first job was for Epson printers in Rotterdam, putting the right cables in boxes for EU countries. And the UK left so they are not my problem anymore.
WHY CAN WE NOT AGREE ON THIS SHIT in EUROPE?

>>217156001
a house is tapped from the local distribution and that is 3~. you might not have a socket but its 3~ going into your main breaker panel and its there split up. unless you live in some shithole offcourse.
my ikea induction stovetop was 9kw at max and was best wired through 400v 3phase, i lived in the old part of town and didnt have that only 230v 3phase so i needed jumper cable thick wiring for it.
>>
>>217156188
Sakte men sikkert så holder vi på å bytte over til TN-nett
>>
>>217156287
400 doesnt carry neutral when its not needed like in industry, nowhere to connect the neutral in a big ass motor. its needed in residential since thats how you get 230v in your socket.
>>
>>217151802
Looks unbelievable shit. Even the italian plug is better.
>>
>>217156353
my previous apartment in trondheim just before i sold it had its supply wiring redone due to work in the street. they didnt even bother to lay in a N leader. it will never be 400V TN. i asked the city why not?
>too expensive

>>
>>217156481

answered it right there. obvioisly new builds are TN. but to do it here they would need a new transformer and rewiring ever breaker panel connected to it. since there is no industry here only old apartment buildings they didnt care. atleast we got rid of the constant ground faults
>i measured 180v betweeen the chassis of my dishwasher and kitchen oven once...
yes i got shocked by it several times. ground fault in the city wiring.

Several different plug types at close proximity. Americans don't even know other plugs exist and thirdies can't afford electricity.

just turn off the appliance then? who tf wants to fiddle trying to find a switch at a socket? the tv got a remote, when i push the off button the tv goes off.

Europeans are autistic about engineering I guess. I love reading and watching videos about effective energy use and smart design for some autistic reason. Meanwhile thirdies just throw wires everywhere and put coalfactories everywhere

The first time I ever really realized there were different plug types in different countries was in college, when an Arab exchange student come out into the dorm lobby looking baffled with some cords. I took him to the local Walmart and helped him get some converters. We also stopped at AT&T and I basically had to translate for him to get a local mobile plan. When it came time to sort through the prices, the employee and I were both clearly wondering if this was a rich Saudi guy, but no, he got the cheapest plan.

I only ever saw him once afterwards, and we smiled and waved.
