The European Union has its own bastardized version of English it uses for administrative purposes.
>>
>>217151393
How is it different from British English?
>>
>>217151393
I just assumed the official version was Irish English
>>
>>217151393
it does?
>>217151405
I second that question
>>
>>217151405
They say trash instead of rubbish

Lol, everyone uses the American variant of words and pronounces them closer to how Americans speak. And it's considered faggy if you try to speak like a posh cunty brit.
>>
>>217151393
we shouldn't use english
it is the language of traitors, capricious fiends and the amerilard menace
english should be banned within the EU
>>
>>217151499
>Lol, everyone uses the American variant of words and pronounces them closer to how Americans speak
Why would you want to speak English incorrectly? Is the average Norwegian more likely to encounter an American or a Brit?
>>
>>217151540
>correct english
No such thing
>>
>>217151540
A bear
>>
>>217151393
They should intentionally make it as annoying to Anglos as possible, make all those ESL accent mispronunciations actually correct.
>>
>>217151605
Is there no such thing as correct Finnish?
>>
>>217151540
Honestly, British English is just harder to speak. The way Americans pronounce things just rolls off the tongue better.
>>
>>217151629
Possibly no.
>>
>>217151618
Make Saar a real word, adopt accent marks, adopt the ñ for words with nn, adopt "öüë" randomly
>>
>>217151405
The UK is not an EU member. The EU uses Irish English instead, because Ireland is the only English speaking member
>>
>>217151540
I'd say it's about 50/50 based on my experience. There are about the same number of immigrants from both countries. The Brits I know speak either Southern or Northern dialects and none speak with the RP or inner-city London accent that people usually consider to be the British accent. Americans, on the other hand, all speak regular American English, regardless of whether they are from the East or West Coast, and they usually come from a better socioeconomic class. To be honest, it's an easy win for the Americans.

It’s arcane and shrouds actual meaning with vague aphorisms and indirect verbiage. Perfect bureaucrat language
>>
>>217151540
The Britishers in Europe are mostly underclass balcony hoppers so they probably don’t want to imitate them
>>
>>217151540
British English sounds goofy and infantile which make it a poor fit for bureaucratic use.
>>
>>217151537
We should all speak luxembourgish
>>
>>217151863
>British English sounds goofy
I disagree. Why do you think British accents are used for so many characters in fiction? American accents sounds so dull and lacking character. In a sense, the American accent does lend itself to a stale, boring bureacratic environment. But it puzzles me why non-English speaking Europeans would strive to speak with an American accent.

>Why do you think British accents are used for so many characters in fiction?
Because it sounds out of fashion and aged, which works perfect for historical or fictional games and series. You have no relevance in modern times.

>The "news accent" is a standard, non-regional dialect often called the General American (GenAm) accent or "newscaster's voice". It is intentionally cultivated by broadcasters to be neutral and authoritative, making them easily understood by a national audience without a specific regional or ethnic sound. This style was developed to sound more credible and to ensure clear communication across the country
GenAm is very widespread and was developed to by useful for news and bureaucracy.

Lol bodied me lad! You off to watch footy on the telly with your mummy now? Go on, on your bike then.
>>
>>217152178
>neutral
>without a specific regional sound
That's why it's so boring, and it seeped into the way the American population at large speaks.
>>
>>217152209
just think its funny how you seem to think american english isnt infantile and is pleasing when your accent is more grating than even the scottish 'english' or irish 'english'
>>
>>217152232
I bet you'd hate Koine Greek too.

>>217152172
I read this in the voice of Mark from Peep Show. You sound like a total autist.

dont really care, sounds normal to me unlike americans with their cartoon character voices

The best sounding, most authoritative English accent is Mid-Atlantic, which combines the British and New England accents. It has by far the most attractive and clearest enunciation out of any English accent.

We use Swedish English in Sweden, which is based on British English. We speak in the Swedish English accent or have no accent, but we use British English spelling for the most part; we write colour, not color etc.

They misuse false friends and make some unnatural word choices, like using actual to mean current

Continentals have become so bitter and petty since brexit. Hope you lads get over it one day.

The mid-Atlantic accent isn't actuwlly a real accent, it was invented by rich Americans in the early 20th century who tried to differentiate themselves from other Americans, and it died out after a few decades.
>>
>>217151499
>American version
You mean English with more German loanwords.
>>
>>217151681
We dont speak English, our national language is Irish

Haha.
Really, now.

It's named "Eurojargon" not "Euro English"

Tired: English is the best common tongue for Europe because it combines Germanic and Latin lexica
Wired: Lithuanian is the best common tongue for Europe because it resembles PIE the most

No shit retard
