I have never had a real job in my life
>>
I contribute 10% into my 401k of which my employer matches 5%
Ive maxed a roth IRA for the past 2 years (so $7,000 each year since ive opened up)
Ive made 1 extra mortage payment directly to principle both years ive owned my home

I dont do any other investment. Im sitting on about $42,000. I should probably do something with it

No interest is haram

Just got my first job so I'll definitely look into a HYSA. Heard precious metals are also good, I was pretty surprised to see the jump in value gold got since 2020.

i don't know what any of those american words mean

I cashed it out and bought a spread of t-bills, crypto, metals, and specific equities.

It’s definitely paid off so far.
>>
we don't have 401k or Roth IRA here
a HYSA is just an account where you get like 2-3% p.a. and can withdraw cash every day? I have that
I also have a broker where I invest in stocks/ETFs, but that isn't matched by my employer in any way and I have to spend my net income on that, I can't deduct it from the gross income
it's well possible to build up some wealth here if you're smart about it even with an average salary, but it's not incentivized like in the US
that's a big problem imo bc it makes people more dependent on the state

Why would I have any of that? If you want to lower your taxes, get paid in securities and bonds and take out loans against those assets. Congrats, you now pay 0% in taxes so long as you never sell those securities.
