Contrary to popular belief, most Koreans are actually lazy and not high achievers. And that by itself is completely fine, not everyone has to be a corporate slave for Samsung.

But Koreans seem to flip-flop between collectivist and individualist ideals to suit whatever fills their egos at the moment.

They’ll sneer at a poor old man collecting cardboard off the street for change, claiming that he has been “culled from society” because he was “lazy and worthless” in a pseudo-rational, pseudo “survival of the fittest” manner.

But when you flip the script on them, mentioning that they spent their entire childhoods playing “League of Legends” in “PC bangs”, wasted 3 years in some community college they barely got into, and haven’t bothered to learn any transferable skills in anything whatsoever (80% of all Korean males I’ve ever met were like this), they’ll switch up and cope about how they “enjoy their lives more” and that you are a “slave to society”, and they actually worked hard their entire lives because they had a part-time job in a convenience store once.

And 10 or 20 years later, when they end up jobless or in a shitty abusive company, just like the people they once looked down upon, they blame the government, boomers, and women, anything but themselves.

Are men in your country like this as well? I’m genuinely curious to know if this is the norm or if it’s only Korean men that are like this.

Truth. One of the most annoying reply which is a common cope in English using socials like
> Koreans study 15 hours a day blabla
WTF nobody have done this except for small portion of the gangnam kids and 1 out of 200 kids in the average high school students

Kind of but only due to rising unemployment and women are more than happy to take the soul crushing corporate jobs. I get the impression those jobs are made for women because I can't imagine useless social rituals and productive work being something a rational person could tolerate. It's insulting to pay pretend even for a fuckyou salary only to work under some nepotism hire with a fake degree put in a position by a relative. Most men either go do trades or drop out of society, although there isn't much 'collectivism' in the sense they blame society ironically it's the rich people bitching about the system the most while everyone else is dropping out because no one wants to hold their bags anymore. I'd gladly make 30k poverty wages or break my back in construction than 100k in some brown nosing position. All the highly skilled positions are out of my reach, but at least those pay better than the fake jobs here if you can get them.
