I don't know how it works in other countries, but here you can take the entrance exam (EVAU) once a year after finishing high school. Some people whose grades are not good enough for the degrees they want go to a similar but lower grade degrees and retake the exam the following year. If they pass that second time, they can 'convalidate' some of the subjects they took the first year of uni.

Oh, I didn't get that because in Spanish universities your grades don't really matter for Erasmus. As long as you have the required amount of credits (which account for less than two years of uni) you can go.
