Japan is somehow the only first world country with horrible english proficiency. This is despite nearly a century of american influence.
I think they teach it poorly on purpose as a subtle way to resist American influence
>>217194502They have their own media, they don't have to learn English.
>>217194502Saar Germany are bad at speaking English saar t. jealous slavs and seething unemployed swedo-finns
>>217194502Pakistan has a higher % of English speakers than India but is rated lower. Are those few English speakers in India just really fucking good at the language? And I’m surprised at Vietnam and Iran being that high.
>>217194502Surprised Brazil is that low. Are they really just pure Portuguese over there?
>>217194502Your English is pajeet tier and your opinion is a pajeet tier low iq dogshit though. I hope I could filter those amazon monkeys all together

>>217194502Because there was no pizza in Japan at that time, and all American soldiers went back to their homeland after their term. Thanks to that, there was no second language in Japan.
>>217194502There's no way South Korea, Vietnam or Argentina has high English proficiency.

>>217194502It's okayish in the big tourist cities if you're communicating very basic subjects. Outside of there it's basically hopeless.
>>217196102I'd rather be a cultureless EFL than being stuck in this muh unique culture bubble.Literally no one speaks korean beside koreans ourselves
>>217195898Even if this were true public opinion doesn't mean anything, nor does soft power. Most of the money Hollywood made was through selling other countries on making their own film industry. Once that became old media the US started selling software and building Internet platforms. In any industry the only buyers that matter are institutional ones, the one of the last big 'Hollywood' films made was American psycho, they had a stellar reputation until focus was shifted to the Internet which fortunately for everyone runs on almost every major language.
>>217194502they don't care, they translated first all of nietzche's works from german than the anglos

>>217196603imagine having your native language be less powerful in your own country
>>217196646Speaking good engrish alone might make you hold pretty heavy power in SK tooThats why all richfags here send their kids to countries like US or UK(or at least Singapore) instead of keep letting them stay in this cunt
>>217196744you just associate English with stupid thingsagain you dont want your country to be language wise very weak. its not healthy. its alienating
>>217196157>LGBTanime was into gay/tranny shit long before America was and continues to be. Anime is already heavily inspired by western animation to begin wtih
>>217194502It's simply a matter of people from countries where English isn't the primary language and which aren't developed nations needing to learn English in order to immigrate to developed countries.
>>217195961i love poland

>>217197196maybe it was cringe in boomer days but I don't see much difference anymore. Poland is basically western first world
>>217196814Tbf the gap between Korean and English is greater than Finnish and English so it's probably harder to get fully fluent making it more impressive when a Korean can speak English perfectly
>>217197043That was only when Poland was thirdie. Now the women are Hans only.
Japan is much too high on this. Everyone talks about Japanese people being autistic perfectionists but I've dated Japanese women who have studied English lit at university and it's still terrible, but in a specific way like they don't learn the concepts of English and the culture behind it which makes me think the problem is how English is taught. For example Kazuo Ishiguro is very well known and they all bring him up as their favourite author in English but think about that. Another piece of evidence on this is that when I visited Japan I could communicate transactions with shopkeepers in my basic Japanese dictionary and the main thing was making them confident enough to follow along.China isn't too bad actually. If they learn it they seem very capable, and I had a gf who tried to teach me Mandarin as part of her Sinicization plan where all her techniques followed international teaching best practice. I've never met a Chinese person in London that didn't speak impeccable English as a result and in some ways they learn English to a depth that throws you off when you ask them about it - reading Chaucer is like me reading Lao-Tzu in its original classical Chinese.
>>217195295>>217194772you have to understand "high proficiency" means comparable to finland or greece, not notorious for their good english, only enough to not be "moderate">>217195346english has been taught the same way for the same amount of time in every province, since the presidency of sarmiento i believe (1868)
