>a fucking glass dome
Humiliation ritual.
>>
>>217207934
The Germans actually have a varied history to reflect upon and the glass dome is meant to exhibit that the openness of their government will never be breached again. You’d probably get it if you lived in a country with history instead of cowboy England
>>
>>217208012
They could have at least made it cohere with the traditional aesthetic of the building. Instead they made it a disgusting modernist tumour.
>>
why are you complaining about the outside more than the inside? have you seen how sterile the podium looks? it's harrowingly soulless, which is a great monument to this incompetent state, led by retarded thieves that need a bullet between their eyes, that should not exist

My friend was just there for work and was sending me pics. I personally think it's very well done. Plus the glass is less vulnerable to fire, which I heard was a problem back in the day

oh well yeah that i believe. while i like the color scheme of the interior of england's house of commons, for example, imagine actually conducting national politics in a place like this... it looks quite strange to me

why they still haven't removed the Soviet flag from there? for how long can you continue this humiliation ritual?
>>
>>217209455
The funniest part is that it was designed as this open monument to Australian politics where the public could see inside but then due to "terrorism" fears they sealed off all the area around it.

Because it looks like a tacky 50s sci-fi colony on top of an otherwise fancy and respectable classic building.

>>217207934
I feel like they've already forgotten why it turned out that way.
>>
>>217207934
what happened to the old ceiling?
did they tear it down to put that one?

>The released parliamentary building design was longer and lower than the current National Assembly building. It also lacked a dome. Assembly members who saw the blueprint questioned, "Why is there no dome?" Some lawmakers had previously toured parliamentary buildings in the United States and Europe. They argued that our parliament should have a dome, like the towering dome of the U.S. Capitol. In Renaissance architecture, domes symbolize religious or political power.

>Architect Ahn stated, "At the time, lawmakers insisted on placing a dome on the roof, citing reasons like 'it has symbolic meaning and looks authoritative.' However, this style was an outdated form only relevant in the early 20th century." Unable to ignore the lawmakers' demands, the joint design team deliberately presented a rendering of a dome so tall and large it was almost repulsive. They secretly hoped it would be rejected as an eyesore.

>But alas, the lawmakers were delighted by it, rendering the effort futile. Ultimately, the design team drew plans to place the dome as flat as possible. This time, the final approval from the Blue House was the issue. The co-designers were not present at the Blue House briefing at the time. Former President Park Chung-hee ordered the five-story National Assembly building to be raised to six stories, one floor higher than the Japanese General Government Building. Because the total floor area (floor area ratio) of the building couldn't be increased, the length of the Assembly building was shortened. As the Assembly building grew taller, concerns arose that the dome, designed to be low, wouldn't be visible from below. There was discussion about 'raising only the lower part of the dome by one floor to increase the dome's height and create a 6-story building,' but ultimately, it was decided to make the dome about twice as tall for the total 6-story building.

that's not the Soviet flag
there is no Soviet flag in front of that building

damaged during a fire in 1933 at the beginning of the Nazi rule and the Nazi government didn't bother to repair it properly because they didn't care about the parliament
then it was destroyed during the Battle of Berlin in 1945 and the parliament building was without dome until the 1990s

The whole building was an empty rubble shell. It was hardly rebuilt after Goering burnt it down in 1933, then it got bombed and artillery'd out in WWII.
It got partially rebuilt but only really the facade got completed fully.
This is what the inside still looked like in 1964. See all the Russian graffiti kek. It wasn't even in East Berlin, it was in the West.
