Are Croats just as culturally Turkish as Serbs?
>>217215178It was a good way to deal with gypsies, the only good thing the Ustaše did. It didn't really impact Serbs though, else the 90s war in Croatia wouldn't had happened.>>217215243Definitely not but we've been gradually becoming more Sebrian/Turkish since the 20. century and now I'd say were noticeably turked. Back in the 19. century only the military frontier parts and the land we lost to Turks in Bosnia had Turkish influence. Since communist Yugoslavia, Serbs and Bosnians had settled places like the Dalmatian coast, Zagreb, Istria and so on. The Ustaše themselves were promoting Muslim or Bosniak culture and insisted on using the Sthokavian (Serbo-Croatian) dialect, which is heavily influenced by Turkish and eastern cultures and alien in parts of Croatia that weren't under Ottomans over traditional old Croatian dialects but then they started removing and inventing some new words to sound different. Ironic how we became more Turkish long after the Ottoman empire fell. All in all the Ustaše we're raging savage cirngelords that sold Dalmatia for some balkanic dumps, they even claimed Serbian Sandžak which never had anything to do with Croatia but it was really Muslim so they wanted it. Ante Pavelić was a Bosnian if it wasn't obvious enough.
>>217215637IS there Turkish influence in Croatian cuisine? Or is the Turkish influence on Balkan food exaggerated?
>>217215829>cuisineMinced meat dishes and burek are very turkish indeed. It's the most marketed and what tourists first associated with Croatia so it might be a little exaggerated. Our cuisine is a mix of Mediterranean, Pannonian (Hungarian), Ottoman and a bit of Austrian in the north
