Belgium is an artificial construct created to prevent Dutch unity and broader Germanic influence. They have been undergoing a brutal frenchification campaign for 200 years that is still undergoing, weakening governance

I speak french and english and I can speak a little bit italian and I understand german but I don't speak it well and I want to learn serbian.

Good! We need more French speakers to offset angloid dominance.

is it really? i thought it's the other way round, French used to be the only prestigious language in Belgium, all of the literature, politics, science etc. was solely in French until quite recently when Dutch made it from the countryside to the cities and big business/politics.
Though nowadays it's probably not much of a heated dispute as it used to be because everything is handled in English anyway.

Is it true that German Swiss usually speak French perfectly but French Swiss rarely ever speak German at all?
>>

Serbian is very easy, it took me 3 evenings to learn it perfectly so now I can troll them on /ex-yu/ that I'm either a Croat hating Serbia or Serb hating Croatia and they take the bait anyway

1830 was a conspiracy by the Francophile elites vs the common man. They even rewrote history books to fit the French revolutionary narrative. Even the already frenchified Walloons, then quite rich, favoured Dutch Unity and celebrated when he came around. A military intervention, elite scheming and media propaganda (like rewriting history books) created a pro French mindset

jao brate nemoj tako

There's still Frenchification in Luxembourg

it's just a natural way of things, if they have to choose between a worldwide spoken lingua franca (literally) vs some hillbilly Germanic dialect spoken by 15 people and 3 cows then the choice is rather obvious

by the end of the century 94% of speakers of French will be African btw

funny how i just realized i know all main Dutch cities because back in the early 2000s when I was a kid Eredivisie was aired on TV here (probably because many Poles played there, also I guess it was just a cheaper licence than for any better league) and I watched it, learning all the club names.

probably not many actual Dutch people were as excited about PSV vs Ajax games as I was
