What are your thoughts on beavers? I think they are cool. I have never seen one, but I hope to someday.

They're essential to my arguments against veganism. Love those dudes.

They’re pretty cool until the chop down a tree I like, and since you can’t just buy dynamite at the hardware store anymore I have to remove their bloody dams by hand, and they literally can rebuild them overnight. It’s infuriating sometimes. Two years ago we killed seven of them on my property after fighting them for like four years.

>>217552969
They’re actually help retain water sheds in arid regions, and provide good breaks for forest fires, as well as aid in drought prevention/amelioration, and also erosion as they slow down water speed with a natural weir affect.

I have a skull currently defleshing in my backyard that I have to dig up.

>Beaver population in Finland got almost wiped out due to overhunting
>Fins want to reintroduce beavers
>Canada has a lot of available beavers, so they use those
>Turns out years later that Eurasian Beavers and North American Beavers are two completely different species and genetically incompatible despite looking and acting almost identical
>>
>>217557117
Did nobody in Finland foresee this ?
>>
>>217557250
Scientists hadn't figured it out, people only realized when the genomes were sequenced and it turned out that NA beavers had 40 chromosomes while EU beavers had 48. They're so similar that everybody just assumed it was a subspecies, at best.
>>
>>217555784
welll they dont do anything good here.

>>
>>217560143
leave it to the beaver
>>
>>217552871
Even though they're an invasive species they're not really treated like one because they don't do any harm to the ecosystem and they just replaced the original European beaver that was gone.
