Death is crap anyway, but imagine dying because of a sick social and political system that no one has been able to change for decades. And no one is ever held accountable for it. I don’t want to be killed by some official at a toll booth or a pedestrian crossing, I don’t want a sound cannon to damage my hearing while I stand silently, paying tribute to the victims of corruption. I don’t want to get sepsis because I was treated by some incompetent doctor. I don’t want to be run over by my own friends and comrades, who were driven mad by some illegal weapon or the application of unnecessary force—without any fear that those responsible will face legal consequences. I don’t want to bleed out because the police and emergency services didn’t arrive on time—or didn’t arrive at all.And you know what I want even less? For this to happen to someone I know.I really don’t understand why we’ve allowed things to get to the point where we are fighting just to survive. Not for a better life, not for higher wages—we are fighting for the right to stay alive. In some countries, there’s corruption, crime, and lies too, but they still try to make sure that nothing falls on anyone’s head because, if nothing else, it could be one of their own.
