>>

How do you even teach English if your students only know Japanese? Do you know some basic Japanese?
>>

Nigga how do you think people learned foreign languages before schools were a thing?
A Portuguese guy who landed in Japan 100s of years ago had to learn the language just by interacting with the locals.

When Alexander the Great first arrived in India, he needed Persian interpreters who knew Greek as well as interpreters who knew both Persian and Sanskrit. In the days of the Mughals, Europeans often had to hire interpreters who had experience with Arabic or Persian before they could start with learning Hindi.
And when they got over to China, they heavily relied at first on merchants who knew languages like Farsi, Hindi, Gujarati, or even Malay. Once you had a member of your crew who could speak, read and write in Chinese, then you could easily communicate with Japanese and Korean bureaucrats, since they all had the same education in the Daxue (Great Learning - the Confucian Four Books and Five Classics). Japanese and Korean Buddhist monks often knew Sanskrit as well (due to it being the language which many Buddhist sutras and commentaries were best preserved in), giving foreign visitors with prior experience in India a strong advantage.

To sum it up, the world has been connected not by people who went in totally blind and ignorant of other cultures, but rather by bilinguals who served as links between one culture and another. Polyglots have on occasion come in handy, but for the most part, knowing 2 or 3 languages extremely well has been enough for meaning to be transmitted suitably well.

Per favore, insegnami l'italiano invece dell'inglese Sensei

Why not teach Italian?
Japanese people who come to learn Italian are 100% fond of Italy, so they should feel like absolute king.

You should force them to call you onīchan instead
Being called onīsama instead of being called sensei means you are giving them good impression
You can do it

It means you're teaching them well.

Some shitbag who worked in schools interrupted my lesson and gave me a 2 star review last friday because "I talk too much" despite having like 20 extra minutes because he wanted to skip 3/4 of the lesson material. Sometimes you meet these types and you have to be a doormat for a lesson before blocking them. I will never try to befriend one of these asswipes again.
>>
>>217647037
>gave me a 2 star review
wtf, why are you getting star reviews in the first place? where are you teaching, a restaurant?
